What trend/style can you not wait to rock this autumn?

For me it's ankle boots even though it will mean hiding the seven pairs of calf boots I have from my husband.

dexter73 Fri 17-Aug-12 20:54:45

Well I don't know if I would say I am rocking a style but I am looking forward to wearing my new cords in burgundy and khaki (I didn't get the yellowwink!). I have been looking for a pair of ankle boots and have scoured so many sites but am yet to find a pair that I really like. Which ones have you got?

My lovely new wedge high tops - they will be the cornerstone of my A/W wardrobe.

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 21:03:36

I'd like some cords too.
Angora sweater
Proenza black skinnies
ankle boots

I don't do trends but cannot wait to get back in my A/W uniform of tea dresses, opaques and biker boots!

MrsCampbellBlack Fri 17-Aug-12 21:05:38

My leather leggings - purchased just before self-imposed shopping ban

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 21:11:35
InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 21:14:48

Sorry I managed to mess up my link

GreyTS Fri 17-Aug-12 21:18:12

I love the Ash high tops Amber but I'm 34 so perhaps a bit old, maybe could try the darker colours. Re aw need to find new ankle boots, saw some lovely Sam Edelman's but not ready to commit. Also need to update to darker colour jeans, thinking burgundy, black and grey

Ooh yes, Current Elliott leopard print cords for me too. I'm actually loving the A/W trends this year!

Will dig out the Pistols too. And the Jalouse. I do like an ankle boot

dexter73 Fri 17-Aug-12 21:20:44

I really like your boots Inspired! They have gone onto my wishlist.

Willowme Fri 17-Aug-12 21:23:52

I bought wedge hightops a few months back but have only wore them once can't wait to get some more wear out of them. Loving ankle boots too but it's so bloody hard to get a nice pair or else I'm just very fussy.

Grey 34? Are you joking, that's no age! Nicole Scherzinger is your age - is she too old for them?!

GoingforGoingforGOLD Fri 17-Aug-12 21:29:07

Fucj me! I had some just like that in 1996 when I thought I was a spice girl

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 21:31:45

Those hightops... sorry but... really??????

GreyTS Fri 17-Aug-12 21:32:24

Nah, normally never think that just had a silly comment yesterday that I should have disregarded. Will try the darker colourway, would look great with skinnys and slouchy tees which is generally my daily "uniform". Thanks for the link need to move on from supergas and converse

Willowme Fri 17-Aug-12 21:37:26

I think wedge hightops are total marmite shoes- you either love em or hate em. I'm in the love camp!

orangina Fri 17-Aug-12 21:38:45

I can't wait to get back into boots. And am looking forward to buying some slim fit patterned trousers (am sure there is an on trend description that I don't know.....).

New boots, maybe these?

No no no to high heeled high top trainers......

I bit my tongue in my op but those shoes are beyond fugly and positively scream fashion victim.

KatoPotato Fri 17-Aug-12 21:41:39

I have some lovely wedge hi-tops from RI in this lovely deep red/wine

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 21:42:31

I'm legendary for liking ugly shoes but those hightops are too ugly even for me.

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 21:44:50

Those hightops look like the shoes those little girls that won the xfactor last year wore. I know I'm showing my age here (40) as I don't even remember the name of that group, but those shoes really look like shoes for kids, not grown women.

orangina Fri 17-Aug-12 21:47:18

Whistles have some lovely animal print skinny jeans too, but their website is ridiculous and I can't link to them...... (boooooooooooooooooo).

Bienchen Fri 17-Aug-12 21:54:46

Each to their own re the hightopssmile... whilst they are not for me I am all fora bit of variety and individuality.

Anyway, I am happy to partly shop my wardrobe. I have a green military winter coat, a tweed skirt from LKB which will fit in with the country/Edwardian thing and a French connection brocade skirt. All bought a few years ago. I am planning to avoid the style police and wear knee high boots as (for my calves) they are a better look with skirts and dresses than ankle boots.

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 22:00:44

Agreed Bienchen. I think ankle boots are less flattering than calf boots, pencoots, but quite fancy a change.

Quite jealous about your tweed skirt. I'd love a knee-lenght tweed skirt that can be worn with calf boots but can't find one.

Back to MN Vogue for me then...

I'm 27, btw, if that helps?

MrsCampbellBlack Fri 17-Aug-12 22:06:49

Oh yes I've got some of the ash genial wedges in plum and know they are very marmite but I like them and they're comfortable.

I also like ankle boots but I am short and so for maximum leg lenghtening they need to be similar colour to my jeans and have a heel. But I always wear heels.

I also have some leopard print jeans that I got in the Donna Ida sale which I'm looking forward to wearing.

I much prefer AW clothes to summer ones - mainly because I am very pale and like to be covered up.

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 22:07:20

Come back Amber! I'm an old bag and know NOTHING!

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 22:08:11

Amber's a youngun! And looks like Miranda Kerr. She can do it grin

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 22:12:43

She deffo can!

So! We have:

-ankle boots
-leopard skinnies
-animal prints everywhere
funny trainer shoe-thingies hightops

what else?

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 22:14:34

new riding-ish bitter dark chocolate semi-gloss boots (no I haven't been thinking about these for years. ooh no)

Willowme Fri 17-Aug-12 22:15:27

Love your hightops kato mine are v similar only they are tan. I'm a young un too I'll have u know, still in my twenties (for another 48hrs) wink

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 22:16:55

Marsha may we have a link to both please?

And I've just remember something I want, biker jacket. Any recommendations?

I am always pleased to see lots of black and goth-inspired stuff in the September magazines.

I have a lovely brocade cossack style skirt that I hardly ever wear because I never know what to wear on my feet with it, but I will try and wear that somehow.

I picked some very subtle grey printed skinnies up when shopping with 15 year old dd2 the other day but she pulled a hmm face so I put them down again! Am prob too old and too short for such things.

And hopefully there will be some t-shirts and knitwear around in colours which actually suit me - am hoping for lots of lovely greys and perhaps some burgundy.

orangina Fri 17-Aug-12 22:24:28

Inspired, some lovely leather jackets in Whistles (had a little rifle through the racks there this morning, going "ooh" and "ahh"....). Again, hopeless website to link to, but I was taken by a collarless version with zips up the sleeves...

(taps nose knowingly)

orangina Fri 17-Aug-12 22:25:47

It's called "Molly collarless bubbleskin"

(go figure)

EightiesChick Fri 17-Aug-12 22:27:43

Mum jeans wink. It's that bad. Tbh if I lost some weight I would consider wearing any clothing in a smaller size, however unstylish, as a massive win.

What colours are big this autumn? I can at least aspire to wearing fashionable colours.

My biker jacket was from Oasis and I bloomin' love it - looks and feels more expensive than it was.

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 22:30:53

Ok these are pretty much my pie in the sky when I've done some work boots. Not sure if they do the bitter choc I'm after but I like those too.

This is my pie in the sky all black look Remus might like it.

And I can't find the Burberry or Derek Lam peacoat.

This is ooh yes please, stuff. Not definitely will be. (too much)

Bienchen Fri 17-Aug-12 22:31:05

Forgot about leather jackets! Thanks for the reminder orangina

Lolz at looking like MK. Maybe when she was pregnant.

I like the look of the slouchy jumper and skinny bottoms but noooooooooooooo to leather leggings.

teejwood Fri 17-Aug-12 22:45:40

Right - just asked this on t'other thread but maybe here is a better place.... are leather/pleather straight leg jeans a reasonable alternative to leggings this A/W or is it just better to avoid if you don't have the legs for the leggings?

Other than that, am really looking for A/W inspiration so interested to see all the links here....

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 22:47:09

Interesting Remus. Not sure I could ever do them. Might be like leopard print or a hat, actually and a silk scarf not for me. I'm curious but feel too strange/like an air and take it off. Could be the same for leather leggings.

Amber grin oh I forget you are younger!

Teej I'm not sure, could be difficult around the ankles?

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 22:47:39

like an air, is like an air hostess in a scarf

MrsRyanLochte Fri 17-Aug-12 23:00:44

I never 'got' high tops until I saw a pic of MK in them, think it's all in the styling. Would link but on phone.

Definitely love AW more than SS. Very much looking forward to ankle boots, total dream trend for my shotputter's calves. Like the leather trend, was thinking of going for a skirt rather than trousers though. Maybe worn with cable or ribbed wool tights and ankle boots. Have yet to find one I like though. Looking forward to lots of coloured skinnies - plum, deep red, forest green and what FC refer to as earl grey which is sort of khaki.

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 23:01:26

Last autumn, ponchos and knitted capes/wraps were all the rage. Do you think they will still be around this yr?

MrsCampbellBlack Fri 17-Aug-12 23:04:37

I think they will Inspired - VB was in some cape thing recently and she's normally pretty on trend wink

I've got a couple of ponchos/capes and like them for inbetweeny days.

But two friends have just bought this coat which I'm rather loving.

PlumSykes Fri 17-Aug-12 23:07:00

I LOVE capes. Love swishing like a district nurse.
I bought a plummy-burgundy t-shirt today, could be my first purchase in a love affair with berry shades, I think. V on-trend, and work well for me.

Am also looking forward to proper winter make-up, lots of dark liner and lips.

HoopDePoop Fri 17-Aug-12 23:12:27

Am looking forward to wearing my Uniqlo grey skinny cords and Marc by Marc merlot coloured Fran bag <love>

Also digging out my red Tommy Hilfiger duffle coat, will be its third year but I LOVE IT smile

nilbyname Fri 17-Aug-12 23:14:19

I bought leopard skinnies from Primarni £13, thank you "does my bum look 40 in this"! I have nice suede brown cowboy ish books from Clarks with a short heel that are so comfy and flattering. But I must have these now DH will go mad....I have 8 one of two pairs of brown boots.

I have a chocolate brown coat in that very shape from the Zara sale last year £17!! Bargain. Looking forward to wearing that again.

I have white Nike hightops, with dark indigo skinnies from whistles and a couple of slouchy jumpers in charcoal and navy.

I want a couple of new dresses....and of course some lovely thick wooly tights.

PlumSykes Fri 17-Aug-12 23:19:14

I fancy this coat for casual Autumn days.

CHOOGIRL Fri 17-Aug-12 23:20:48

MrsCB do you still have your WhiteCo cape? I've never worn mine so glad it will be still on trend in AW.

I'm looking forward to berry colours too. Have got a lovely Joseph dress and am on waiting list for some Plum Louboutin Simple pumps.

MrsCampbellBlack Fri 17-Aug-12 23:25:07

I do Choo - but hardly ever wear it. Will dig it out again though.

PlumSykes Fri 17-Aug-12 23:30:27

Have just remembered last year's curly shearling gilet. He will be getting an airing again soon, I think. Baaa!

InspiredToBoot Fri 17-Aug-12 23:35:42

Oh, another thing I have, as I usually wear all blacks and greys, a selection of these babies in brighter colours: imgfave.com/view/1948898

teejwood Fri 17-Aug-12 23:51:07

good point about ankle flappage and footwear marsha

MarshaBrady Fri 17-Aug-12 23:53:26

Aww don't be deflated. There's got to be a way. Wear it with a delicate ankle boot. What do people wear with straight leg jeans... My brain hurts right now but will think about it grin

HoopDePoop Fri 17-Aug-12 23:58:21

Err Tesco have some lush leopard brown / auberginey skinny jeans! Picked them up about 5 times and put them back, dammit, noone would know...?!

blue2711 Sat 18-Aug-12 00:40:11

Where are your leather leggings from mrscb? I was going to try Zara's but I think you said no good.

mrsR I have seen lovely leather skirts in Reiss and the new Isabella Oliver Baukjen thingy. Will link tomorrow if you're interested.

BelaLug0si Sat 18-Aug-12 00:51:36

Leather leggings links no I'm not the sellers, just easier to link to the thread smile

FauxFox Sat 18-Aug-12 07:49:22

InStyle mag informed me that gloves would be in for a/w and strangely I found that quite exciting...all sorts of gloves, long, coloured, studded leather etc. In my mind I am seeing some kind of short sleeved dress with long gloves (either knitted for day or satin/velvet/something else?? for eve)...am mulling it over smile

Also apparently blue is a big colour trend and I love that so that'll be easy.

I am also looking forward to wearing my new TK Maxx bargain Feud grey suede over the knee boots these but in dove grey (£38!!!) I know they are not for everyone but I love them so much! Will wear with opaques and slouchy knitted dresses and over skinny jeans too.

MrsCampbellBlack Sat 18-Aug-12 07:51:46

Blue - they're the ones you linked to smile With discount of course. Was going to let you know that I think that the 6 would be too big for you as fit me well and I'm larger than you. They are really gorgeous though - would be worth you seeing if they do a size 4.

Coprolite Sat 18-Aug-12 07:58:55

I'm looking forward to my hooded poncho-y cape thingie and desperately want some dark green or similar earthy colour cord leggings (but where from at >>>£)

frankie76 Sat 18-Aug-12 08:00:48

Amber them high tops are lovely I am gutted at 36 which is not too old by the way I have the black ones and now all the new colours come out :-(

Yay, someone likes my high tops! Woo hoo!

Also want a cobalt glittery knit from Maje, brogue ankle boots from R&B and star print jeans from Current Elliott. Also on the lookout for perfect black skinnies.

marsha your fantasy Celine look is so gorgeous it makes me want to cry. Mini Luggage a stiff contender for dream bag.

CountBapula Sat 18-Aug-12 08:34:10

Dying to get this zebra-print sweater but will have to wait for the sale, I reckon. Would look fab with those Uniqlo cords someone linked to upthread.

I spotted this frock in the window of Aubin & Wills and instantly fell in love with it. Told DH about it later and he'd seen the exact same one and thought it would look nice on me. A few days later he went out and bought it for me! I was a bit shock as it's pretty £££ and we're not rich, but I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth wink Can't wait to wear it when it gets a bit cooler. Would look fab with those Isabel Marant knock-off ankle boots New Look are doing.

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 08:38:30

Amber I know, isn't it gorgeous. I can just picture my life with that, on pretty tree-lined street hmm Paris maybe. Children playing prettily somewhere.

Yes get the lovely Maje. Fab list.

Gorgeous dress Countbapula, well done dh!

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 08:39:57

And like the zebra one too.

Oh I love that zebra jumper, that is getting pinned!

MrsRyanLochte Sat 18-Aug-12 10:08:15

Thanks blue have checked out Reiss, I LOVE the leather pencil and I could get away with it for work I would (but can't sadly). I really like the IO one (what's with the Baukjen thing? I don't understand what was wrong with IO 365?), good length. Was perhaps looking for a charcoal rather than black and maybe in skater style or tulip shape for more flattering fit. I have the perfect imaginary one in my head, just need to find it!

I quite like this style skirt too.

InspiredToBoot Sat 18-Aug-12 10:18:26

I am loving your ideas. That dress is stunning!

What about scarves? I've seen an amazing selections of animal print scarves in Massimo Dutti and I just don't know which one to go for!

(Hating the weather today - all I can do is look at my boots up on the shelves)

dexter73 Sat 18-Aug-12 10:21:08

I like this scarf best.

MrsRyanLochte Sat 18-Aug-12 10:22:50

Beautiful scarves inspired - may have to purchase but agree, very difficult to pick just one!

MrsSchadenfreude Sat 18-Aug-12 10:31:00

Elasticated waists and Footgloves.

Coprolite Sat 18-Aug-12 10:43:55

The knitted wool feather scarf is beautiful Inspired.

InspiredToBoot Sat 18-Aug-12 11:09:29

Yes! I think the feather one is my favourite too!

LesleyPumpshaft Sat 18-Aug-12 11:32:34

Bienchen, I will be avoiding hightops and ankle boots too. They are ok for people with long, slim legs, but not people who are short and stubby of limb. I don't care if the fashion police nab me for wearing knee highs, I'd look much worse in some hightops or ankle boots to be quite frank.

Willowme Sat 18-Aug-12 11:35:29

I've been searching for months for a waterfall style black leather jacket, I ordered one from warehouse but it was so thin I sent it back, anyone any ideas where to get one?

MrsRyanLochte Sat 18-Aug-12 11:42:23

Lesley I am not slender of leg by any means, 5ft4 and all height in my torso here. If you did want a pair of ankle boots, trick is to find some that have a 'V' shaped front like these beauties

Willow I may be wrong, but I'm sure Great Plains had a waterfall leather jacket, it might even be in the sale now. Might be worth a look.

charlottehere Sat 18-Aug-12 11:43:20

Fat, heavily pregnant look. grin yah me!

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 11:43:26

I'm not saying everyone wants people to think they have bought the designer one, most probably want to be on trend or just buy whatever and don't think about it.

I don't mind High St doing what they do it doesn't bother me.

MrsRyanLochte Sat 18-Aug-12 11:44:15

Nope, sorry willow - just cheked, it is waterfall but not leather!

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 12:09:05

Wondered whet that post went. wrong thread!

Willowme Sat 18-Aug-12 15:41:10

The search continues MrsRyan!

I can't wait to get my shearling gilets back out. And ankle boots....and knee high boots. Much prefer winter clothes!

Hopefully Sat 18-Aug-12 18:01:58

Leather trousers.

With everything

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 18:44:39

I just saw someone walk past in leather leggings with ankle zip. They looked really good. Slightly punk look bleached blonde hair but with LA summer vibe.

Did you see the new Drome ones on Matches Hopefully?

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 18:45:22

Leather skinnies not leggings

Hopefully Sat 18-Aug-12 19:24:23

I did Marsha but they weren't quite right sad

GeorginaWorsley Sat 18-Aug-12 19:33:36

Bought the Whistles animal print jeans a few weeks ago but find them bit dark for now so looking forwrd to wearing them.
Got a poncho/slouchy jumper thing BNWT off ebay from Mint Velvet that I had coveted last season ,gorgeous camely beige.

Leopard print (again)
Peplums (for work). I do love, so flattering.
Navy lace skirt something like this
Anything aubergine
I love this jacket for slinging over skinnies
Maybe a military coat

Phaedra11 Sat 18-Aug-12 20:55:05

I've just been putting a bid on a coat on EBay and was fretting to DH about how much I should put on to prevent being sniped at the last fraction of a second.

DH said I shouldn't worry as in this weather no-one else will be thinking of winter coats! How little he understands grin

MarshaBrady Sat 18-Aug-12 23:14:25

Ah that's a pity Hopefully. Will keep an eye out.

CeeceeBloomingdale Sun 19-Aug-12 08:54:06

www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-W2012/269209/825765/DENIM%20JACKET%20WITH%20ZIPS leather waterfall at asos?

I love autumn/winter clothes. I'm looking forward to layers, knits, scarves and ankle boots.

I have a summerweight scarf almost identical to the MD feather one bought from a uk stockist on ebay for £5.99

CeeceeBloomingdale Sun 19-Aug-12 08:56:27

Probably continuing my love of a girly come rock fashion. Not being too hot to wear my fave biker jackets.
Skinny jeans with layered knits, blazers, slogan tees and pretty flowery floaty bits to mix it up!
My all time fave brown leather riding boots that have seen me through 10yrs so far!! Yes really (thanks m&s)

Willowme Mon 20-Aug-12 18:14:51

Seen that one before ceecee but I couldn't cope with cold wrists so decided against it.

InspiredToBoot Mon 20-Aug-12 20:46:27

What about handbags? I need inspiration...

CardiCorgi Mon 20-Aug-12 20:47:02

I will be rocking the postpartum look. Trying not to weep at the memory of how that was last time.
So, capes, are they really ok, and will I look completely stupid in a dark brown version of this? To be worn with brown skinny cord trousers (made at the end of last winter and not worn out of the house yet and (in my dreams only) the riding boots from MarshaBrady's link.

MarshaBrady Mon 20-Aug-12 21:21:49

Capes are great. I know those boots, sigh. I must, I must.

I just saw this cape outfit love the stripes / cape / leather combo.

MarshaBrady Tue 21-Aug-12 09:59:11

And here's a more classic version.

cardi am in awe of pregnant, other child and making clothes for after baby. I think it looks fab!

VerityBrulee Tue 21-Aug-12 10:28:30

I just pinned those capes this morning marsha!

i love the look of capes and bought a couple last winter but found them impossible to wear, my arms were always cold and they are a nuisance with bags, so I ebayed them. They do look great though!

MarshaBrady Tue 21-Aug-12 10:33:37

Great minds Verity!

I'd love one, I did try a Stella M one last year, actually it was very like that pin, but my parents weren't overly keen and it was their gift. So went for a SM coat instead.

VerityBrulee Tue 21-Aug-12 11:22:23

I imagine they would be fine if you don't feel the cold too badly, you could layer undeneath. I'm always freezing though. My mother always told me 'You have to suffer to be beautiful' but being cold is a step too far for me!

CardiCorgi Wed 22-Aug-12 09:05:08

Ooh, I like that outfit and I'm not usually a Kate Moss fan.
Well, you can be impressed when I've actually made the thing wink, I have a sewing wish list as long as my arm. One thing that helps is a dedicated sewing machine table and shelf for UFOs so that I don't have to tidy everything away completely every time I stop. The other is that I'm supposed to be taking things easy, so what was sports time before is now sewing (and mumsnetting) time.
Regarding boots, well both my black knee high boots and black under-trouser ankle boots have died after many years of faithful use, so I do need to replace at least one of them and would rather buy quality and not have the hassle of shopping again for a few years. I'm still not convinced if the ankle-boot with trouser tucked in trend is for me, so if I get any I will go cheaper for those.

MarshaBrady Wed 22-Aug-12 09:10:18

I know I felt the same. It is a really nice outfit.

My mother taught me to sew when I was little. I don't have a machine and don't really have the time but impressed with anyone that makes gorgeous things.

And I know a few designers who are big world-wide labels now that started that way. Which shows talent has a lot to do with it.

Do you have an idea of the type of knee high boots you'd like to go for Cardi?

CardiCorgi Wed 22-Aug-12 09:25:45

We had to learn to sew in school and we all hated it. I've only been inspired again recently and mainly by the number of sewing blogs and the Burda magazines which all show that it doesn't need to be floral elasticated-waist skirts (what was our teacher thinking of?). My aim is to make relatively simple things and get the fit spot on as perfect fit is not cheap to buy. I'm actually a physicist, so no illusions of become the next big design name.

Well the boots I like best are the ones you linked, and yes they also come in dark brown, however despite I'm not sure how I could ever bring myself to spend such an eyewatering amount. I want flat and a roundish toe, not too many extra buckles or straps, but good quality materials. It probably doesn't sound that fashionable, but I think it's what works best for me. They also need to be a fairly slim fit as despite the sports, my calves are quite scrawny (unlike my thighs).

MarshaBrady Wed 22-Aug-12 09:31:17

Yes I want something like that too. Really good quality, last for ages, means I get away with some of my shoddier clothes. Hermès are good. As are Loro Piana. But ££ too.

Yes that was a bit of an unrelated post there! Am sure most people do it for a hobby. I wasn't very good at it actually, straight lines were a bugger.

MarshaBrady Wed 22-Aug-12 09:35:19

They probably have other styles too this AW if the zip is a bit much.

thekidsarealright Wed 22-Aug-12 09:42:13

Love this thread!

I'm loosing weight and will be positively guant hmm by Christmas.

But what I really, really need is ankle boots, in a light colour with a military button detail. SIL had some a few years ago and they made me envy so bad I couldn't compliment her on them.

Go! Go! Go!

ArcticRain Wed 22-Aug-12 15:51:41

Do skinny jeans etc look odd on short people ? I usually wear dresses. I'm not sure whether my legs look shorter so not bought yet.

fridgepants Wed 22-Aug-12 16:00:56

I really want to order some made-to-measure 50s reproductions from TopRunway, but am scared that as my life is not like Bette Davis's, they will be unworn.

I am looking forward to getting out my red cord skirt and teal boots.

Mrsloverlovershabba Wed 22-Aug-12 16:13:04

I did this face hmm before opening the cords link - now i want them

Loving all the Hudson boots too

<<saves pennies>>

Craftyone Thu 23-Aug-12 00:05:16

I will be going to Berwick street and will rock any style i fancy making!

CardiCorgi Fri 24-Aug-12 09:11:02

Good for you, Craftyone. By the way, is that a good place for buying fabric? I'm
not very familiar with London.
MarshaBrady thanks they are also very nice and that is the sort of thing I think I want. Another option I have is that there is a local company who sell their own very well made footwear. They have a reputation for being a bit snooty, so I'll take DH with me and check out their offerings.

Hopefully Fri 24-Aug-12 09:14:00

Cardi it's not cheap (go to goldhawk rd for cheap fabrics) but lots of wonderful quality fabric, plenty of weights and types.

Thanks, I shall put them on my list for my next London visit.

I agree with Hopefully that Berwick street is not the cheapest. I studied fashion/textiles in London and it was the main place we went to get quality fabrics. I buy for my own freelance work. Goldhawk road is good too for affordability. I work in textiles so i love looking at the rolls for over £300 a metre!! i only look though unless the clients paying, they are amazing. If you do go Bewick Street enter it from Oxford street and walk all the way down. Go inside The Cloth House (2 shops on Bewick st, one for fashion and one for interiors) and go inside The Cloth Shop, Borovics, Silk City etc. You will see some of the best quality fabrics around and you might spot some famous designers as they shop around there too. There are lots of affordable fabrics and remnants too. Sometimes it's the only place to find something in a certain colour. Creative Beadcraft is close to Bewick street too and is also worth a visit on 1 Marshall Street London W1F 9BA

A word of advice is to go Berwick st a bit early or a bit late as when they are busy they can be a bit snooty especially if they are serving someone from the more expensive selections. You can purchase 10cm or 20cm strips of most things so good for an expensive trim e.g. £60 metre fabric looks great as a £6 trim. I'm going to shut up now. I haven't been Berwick st for ages as looking after 9 month DS.
One last thing is some of these shops only open Monday-Friday so choose a weekday if possible.
