Best concealer for red veins on face?

Am looking at concealers but a lot seem to be aimed at under eye shadows, which on the whole are the least of my worries.

I have a generally ruddy complexion and thread veins on the front of my cheeks and around my nose, and it's those I want to address.

I'm thinking of getting the Smashbox green primer, but I guess that won't do a full obliteration job so want a concealer too.

Have used a Benefit one before which was okay but not wonderful - actually Touche Eclat is probably the most effective I've found but I don't like its general shininess.

Any recommendations for one with good coverage but not too cakey?

I use the green concealer from Lily Lolo with their mineral foundation and a touch-up of standard LL concealer if needed over the top.

I've not found a better combination for foundation coveraage and lasting ability than LL.

The Vichy Dermablend ultra corrective stick is really good. Or the foundation in a tube. They can both be used as foundations, but are really heavy full coverage, camoflouge make up, so work better as concealers. You can buy it in Boots.

Bare Minerals Bisque concealor - you will NEVER use anything again! Go to a counter for a tester but it is utterly fab, it has transformed my skin. It's magic stuff

gg do you still love your Parlux? Sorry for the hi jack OP grin

ggirl Mon 13-Feb-12 17:15:52

yes , it's great !!

also loving my new smaller barrelled bbh

Pinot Mon 13-Feb-12 17:16:11

But but but the BM Bisque has bismuth in which affects some peoples skin, like mine <cries> So thats LL stuff is safer and cheaper and just as good.

ggirl Mon 13-Feb-12 17:16:25

do you?

ggirl Mon 13-Feb-12 17:17:16

must be one of the only bloody things my skin doesn't react to..thank god

valiumredhead Mon 13-Feb-12 17:17:53

YES! Love it and it has made me grow my hair agin as it's now so quick to dry it.

BBBH is shite and gave me terrible split ends sad

ggirl Mon 13-Feb-12 17:21:33

ahh shame..I have fine hair so never really get split ends

HouseOfGrittyBits Mon 13-Feb-12 18:03:26

Thanks all - am off to have a google.

I have tried Lily Lolo powder foundation samples - they were good but a bit drying as I have v dry skin sometimes. Haven't tried the green one though (and it doesn't look too scarily green like some of the colour correctors do!)

Should have said I'm using Estee Lauder Double Wear Light at the mo, so ideally the concealer should work well under or over that. Although... maybe in the summer it would be nice just to cover up the worst bits of veininess with concealer and not have to bother with a heavy foundation. Decisions decisions.

ggirl Mon 13-Feb-12 18:08:34

don't you put concealor on top of foundation?? won't you just wipe it off if you put it underneath?

valiumredhead Mon 13-Feb-12 18:09:04

I don't get one with LL - the colours are great but they don't last as well as BE imo.

I cover with Bisque and sometimes don't need foundation as it does such a good job but doesn't look as if I am wearing anything. It really is magic!

valiumredhead Mon 13-Feb-12 18:09:19

on not one!

QuinnFabray Mon 13-Feb-12 18:15:24

I use the Vichy Dermablend with Estée Lauder double wear light.

I have a lot and one bad patch of red veins due to an injury on my face...I have tried it ALL and the best thing is Loreal Mineral makeup....all in one loose powder.

It offers really good coverage....speak to the girl in Boots and she will show you how to do it.

I looked at all kinds of things...the only other thing is scar covering stuff...I have forgotten what it is called but also at BOots....

I am not normally an advocate of cheap make-up but I picked up a "concealer pen" in Aldi. Comes in a silver wand with a click button on the bottom and brush (quite nice packaging actually). It is fab and a bit like Touche Eclat without the shine. Will probably repurchase it myself.

HouseOfGrittyBits Mon 13-Feb-12 19:37:34

ggirl - re under or over foundation, I don't really know blush I remember the scary Touche Eclat lady saying you could do either.

I suppose I tend to do concealer first, foundation next. Is that not right?

Thanks for all the suggestions, lots of googling to do.

Pinot Mon 13-Feb-12 19:50:53

I always do foundation first as then you can just cover up the bits that need it.
