Is a denim skirt and leggings combo a bit teenagery?

Would like to get out of my jeans rut and wear leggings a bit more (obviously not in this weather though!). I like the denim skirt and leggings look but not sure whether I could get away with it, being the 'wrong' side of 30? Also is it not particularly flattering if you have short legs and a big bum ?

if you have shortish legs and a biggish bum, maybe the skirt, leggings look is going to make your legs look shorter, maybe a bit stocky?

Yes to it being teenager. We has a non uniform day recently and almost every girl in the school was wearing a short denim skirt or shorts with/without leggings. As were many of the younger members of staff. Based on that sample I would say age is less to do with it than height and bum area.

Can possibly get away with this in 20's if skiiny and young looking, but if in 30's with short legs, no. Sorry.

I would wear it. I am also wrong side of 30 - but size 8- 10 and 5 6"..so was under impression looked ok. However I could be deluding myself!

Well in my defence I am size 12, so not on the large side, but thought I might be able to get away with it. seems like most people say stay away so unless I go shopping and try it on and am blown away by how flattering the look is, I'll leave it.

I saw someone this weekend wearing a dress I own as a tunic over leggings ... she was a lot taller than I am... but same age, and it looked good.

I'm 35, size 10 (sometimes 8, sometimes 12), medium length legs, and sometimes wear a short denim mini-skirt over leggings (although as you say not in this weather). I know it's probably passe (can't do accents) but I don't actually care, and I think it looks quite good.

Given they've forbidden it, I want to know what the fashion police suggest as an alternative if you're bored with jeans? Leggings + skirt with a shirt over the top are comfortable when you are crawling around the floor with a small child, and prevent the knicker exposing gape that happens with jeans

There is a women who wears that look to our office and she is 52. She is 5ft 9 very long hair and wears it with a checked shirt and looks amazingly good!
