Depends on the bride! I wouldn't give a hoot what my guests wore as long as they were happy in it, but I've heard others aren't quite so open-minded..

I love VOH dresses, btw.

I think the way you phrased your question rather answers it! Ruthie is right, it really depends on the bride, and if you and she are friends maybe chat with her about it! It's a gorgeous dress, and yes VOH designs are stunning, but in the words of the description you would be 'the wonder at any wedding'! People would pay you a lot of attention in that dress, and maybe if you don't know the bride very well, and just turn up in it she might think or even .

If in doubt, I wouldn't. It's not your big day. You wouldn't have a problem with any of these though (except the bridal dress on that link obviously!).

Hmm. I don't know the bride very well.

The reason I wanted to wear it is because it's the dress I like best and want it as part of my wardrobe. I've never ever spent that kind of money on clothes before but after a year of absolute Hell my dh is buying it (or another) for my birthday.

What a shame! Sure I'll like some of the others 'nearly' as much though.

what a fab dress. why would the bride mind?
correction, one of my closest friends , woman, is being best 'man' to a our male friend, from school. the bride has asked her to change her dress becasue she thought it might upstage her !!!!!
check with the bride. e-mail her the link.

I love that dress star I'm going to a wedding in September, one of my bestest friends, and I might get that one, is lovely.

i would love it if you wore that dress to my wedding - it's beautiful and looks very posh.

it does not look like a wedding dress.

but if i were you, i would send it by email to the bride and ask her if it's okay for you to wear it - you could word it somethign like "i've seen this dress - do you think it would go with your wedding theme/look okay if i wore it to your wedding?"

It's a gorgeous dress.

So gorgeous that I think yes, some brides might be a bit put out if you wore it.

Definitely e-mail the bride and ask, if you're unsure.

Why would the bride mind? I'm confused.

Lovely dress BTW.

I think its fine especially if bride is going to be long white dress.

However if you're not sure and therefore feel uncomfortable in it - perhaps best to settle for something less 'wow'.

redhappy · 19/06/2010 17:43

Yes I've just looked at it again, and I can't see the problem? all the important bits are covered!

Wear it and relax. The bride wants her guests to make an effort. Lovely dress by the way.

Gorgeous but I can imagine an insecure bridezilla may be a bit put out

Why not? It's not white, not black, not slutty (unless it's upper thigh length or you are going to be spilling out of the top). But ask her if you're worried.

tbh I don't think I really noticed what others were wearing at my wedding. I was too busy basking in my own glory .

Well I'll go and try it on at least....

Thanks

I think it is too much tbh.

Not really a wedding guest dress imo.

It's gorgeous. My friends wore stuff like that to my wedding and they looked fab. The only thing I'd avoid is a big white or ivory dress, but that one is just luvverly.

Of courser you can!

If it were white, that would be wrong, but red is fine!

oxocube · 19/06/2010 18:25

Might steal the Bride's glory a bit as it is very lovely. V much depends on what the other guests are wearing too - are they going to be ultra conservative or more funky in which case it would be fine. Will also be bookmarking that site!

Well my bridesmaids wore 50s style dresses with poufy petticoats and I also had a 50s style wedding dress so if you'd worn that to my wedding you'd have looked like a bridesmaid wannabe! I have a friend who has one of the floral print VoH dresses and she wouldn't wear it to my wedding for that reason (even though I was fine with it).

If I can get rid of my baby jelly belly in time, I want to wear a VoH dress to a wedding in October!

It's very out there and will definately get you noticed.
Depends on the bride I suppose.
If it is your kind of thing then I think you will be ok. Personally it isn't my cup of tea but if it suits your personality then go for it.

< gasps > Those dresses are gorgeous! I want one! I don't think I would mind if you wore it to my wedding. As long as you didn't get a White one.

...Although, I read something on a thread here once about you not being supposed to wear red to a wedding. Something about the wedding photos and red drawing the eye towards it therefore taking focus off the bride or red and White together being bad luck. Don't know how true this is as I guess people have bridesmaids in red sometimes!
