DH and I have been invited to an evening do at the weekend. It's DH's boss's wedding - we were chuffed to receive the invite - especially since we (and the rest of the world) assumed that the boss and his partner of nearly 20 years were married already. Anyway, the wedding is taking place at their house (think 18th Century Dower House, with extensive grounds and pool)in a marquee, I expect.

The dress code is "casual", which has caused me something of a dilemma. The only other thing we've been to at their house is a barbeque the summer before last. When we have a barbeque, we have Pimms and sausages. They had caterers and a whole hog. So I suspect that their idea of "casual" is rather different to mine.

I bought this today. Do you think it's OTT? If I wear it with wedges and don't take a posh bag will it be casual enough?

That's a lovely dress. I think casual in the context of posh wedding probably means smart, but not hat and morning suit smart. The dress is just the job.

I'd lose the ribbon belt though as think that does make it rather too dressy.

But i think dresses are fine anytime in the summer particularly and its very pretty.
