[waves] Have a look in New Look they have loads of different styles. I got a straight pair yesterday, they're more flattering than skinnies. Prices around £10-£30

are straights 'cool' now?

I like the NEXT bootcut ones that are about £18 - have two pairs and they are both great.

I've tried pinging my legs, there's no stretch in them.

jack lycra jeans are more flattering tha cardboard stiff cotton ones.

you might need to go down a size to get the full effect

GAP curvy are flattering, very flattering but do change shape quite dramatically as the day goes on,. Good for tallies too

It's the change chape bit that I am not too keen on, I start off all smooth and sleek and then have a saggy arse by the end of the day. I don't mind soem lycra but the ones I had before took it too far

Right, so I need to try on nextbootcut, new look straight leg and gap curvy so far?

(I have childfree day saturday so can happily try them on!)
Do I wear heels to try on then or what?
I confess that after the new look hula jeans debacle I have been wearing tesco 'chuck in the trolley' jeans so want to do this 'right'

Voulez... are you in mourning for Hula jeans also?!?! I miss that range soo much as they fitted me really well and such a good shape/price too!

Am watching this thread as I'm about the same size and 5'8" and need jeans also so suck in my chunky thighs!

i like next bootcut too, they seem to have a nicer higher waistband atm. also come in tall and still think they're very flattering fit. try tons on

I really didn't like hul jenas, the waist was too low cut, which is NOT attractive on me, and they stretched!
I have a pair upstairs still that I use as slobby trousers as the waistband has stretched so much that they can go on and off without being undone!

My most favourite jeans were from tk maxx ages ago, z something, had a pink lining and were so comfy but they got lost in a house move still convinced flatmate nicked them

Lol... if you thought Hula were low cut you should see their new range - they are even worse, hence my plight for new jeans... I need something to tuck my twin skin into!

I've got some of the next bootcuts and they are ok but I find they go baggy very quickly especially on the bum

arse goodness is what I need.

OKay, new look , next for cheaper.
Then Monsoon, river island, gap.

What style do I want though? Straight leg? bootcut? what is most flattering for heavy thighs and fat arses?

Bootcut is DEF the most flattering for large of thing and bum.

You need Gap Long and Lean. You do not need to be long and lean to wear them - so don't be put off by the name! They give you a long and lean shape. Was recommended in a magazine article years ago for pear shaped ladies and I tried some and was instantly converted. The other ones that are good for pears are Top Shop skinny flares (again, don't be put off by the 'skinny' bit - you don't have to be to wear them!) Very leg lengthening.

As a pear I struggle with Next sizing - if things fit me on the waist there, they are far too small on the hips and vice versa. they seem to cut for thicker waists/smaller hips in general I think.

I too struggle with jeans - think I am fuller hour glass - ie big hips and bust. 5ft2 and size 14ish (depends which bit of me). I struggle to find ones which fit over my hips but not too big round the waist so they constantly need to be hoiked up during the day. Shall try out some of these ideas but if anyone can help with the petite side of things as well...

I can recommend M&S. Try the £12 ones in the straight leg - they are so cheap you can buy them in lots of colours and they have had lots of recommendations on here for making your bum look small.
I have friends who spend well over £100 on jeans and have complimented my cheap M&S ones. The long length should be OK for your height.

Okay so

Try mainly Bootcut or straight first in new look, m and s straight leg, top shop skinny flares and next.
Then try gap (curvy and long +lean), river island and monsoon.

I have bought grazia so have 25% of in gap, so hoping they fit now!

(scuse list but wil be taking it with me into town)

Ended up buying marks cheapies, most other places did not have 18 longs, only 18 shorts (I am 5ft 9, short not a good look) so didn't even bother trying them on. Gap had some but there was a queue (A Queue!!) for the changing room so coulnd't be arsed.

GRRR at shoddy shop restocking!
