AFter buying and returning several different outfits I have finally decided (I think) to wear a Monsoon dress that I bought last year for a party. Because I'm a bit lardy at the moment it's the only style that really does anything for me. Basically it's identical to this one only in black. Thing is, do you think it's too dressy? Should probably explain that the wedding will be just me and DP and 2 witnesses, and we are going straight off on a train to London for a quick honeymoon. I was really hoping to get something a little more casual, but just can't find anything at the moment. I'm planning to wear a little cardigan/shrug over it, and will have some simple silver jewellery (as my ring is white gold). Have also ordered these sandals. What do you all think? Shall I keep looking for something less dressy, but somehow more weddingy? BTW, DP will be wearing light-coloured chinos and a grandad shirt, possibly a jacket.

If you feel fabulous in it, wear it

it might be a low key wedding, but it's YOUR wedding

sandals ar e ok, but I'm a heels gal

Thanks for your reply Mamaglee. I wear black a lot of the time, and as DP is the same height as me I don't like to wear heels, as I feel a bit too big IYSWIM. Can't say I feel fabulous in it, but certainly ok. Still need to lose 2 stone, but can't see that happening in a month! May feel better once I've had a haircut too!

I think the dress is lovely, but you need to make sure you feel comfortable. We had a small low key wedding like yours last summer, I got a lovely skirt and bodice in Coast. Have you looked in there?

I've looked EVERYWHERE! I think the problem is more how I feel about the way I look at the moment, rather than a lack of beautiful clothes (Coast has some stunning dresses).

How about something with a bodice that will pull everything in?

Coast do a beautiful dress in cream called Jocasta, I'm trying to find it in the purple (already have the black) and its very very flattering for all sizes (and goes up to 18 I think) ..
