Bit fat, need good summer look for casual

Still being very postnatal a year on (size 18 bottom, size 16 top, pear shape, slight bingo wings, random wodges of flesh hanging over top of pants), I appear to have nothing much that fits me apart from one pair of bootleg jeans that I look slightly poured into, a reasonably nice gyspy top from John Rocha, a variety of plain washed out short v-neck t-shirts in white, navy, black and red that make my ample bosoms look like two melons in a bag, some sensible work clothes of the black-and-white uniform type, and one prehistoric patterned black and white cotton skirt that makes my bum look big.

I need help very badly.

I would welcome advice on how to jazz up my look whilst spending as little money as possible, because I have lost direction totally. I am thinking if I bought 2 or 3 perfect tops I could cover the rest up successfully and not look too dull. I am also keen to have 1 or 2 things for the bottom half that will do for the warmer weather as well.

Over to you, everyone.

i find fitted or tight bottoms (jeans/leggings/jegins) and floatey top work best. the top can't be too floaty otherwise look like a fairy on steroids.

if i ever wear tshirts i wear two layered and slightly bigger not to tight so the love handles dont show.

wide leg linen trousers with talored top also seems to work well.

i alsways wear a nice piece of jewelery or have nice flower sorsage to draw attention form undesirable parts.

I always wear a nice necklace, so as a last resort a friend desperately looking for a way of detracting from my random lumpage can always say 'What a lovely necklace'

Am also having problems very similar to OP - whilst not weighing any more than I did pre pregnancy, am saddled with this massive lump of flesh aka post partum belly.

Having moderate success with 3/4 length sleeve empire line style tops which are gathered under the bosom but looser fitting over the belly area.

I am thinking along these lines...

Would go well with white linen crops definitely. And some nice pumps or Holster type thongy slip on things...

That is my other surefire winner other than nice necklaces - nice shoes. People always have something to compliment you on then!

Actually, these ones would go well with that top

New Look can have some v good things at 'cheap as chips' prices, and their sizes are quite generous, have a look there. i find they rotate stock quickly, though, so you need to check regularly.

Would you consider a maxi dress at all? The right ones can be flattering for a pear and a nice cool, feminine cover-up for the summer.

at ''fairy on steroids''

How about a knee length jersey dress or wrap dress that you can wear with flip flops and necklace?

I am liking all these ideas. I am going to order the Next cropped trousers. What do you all think to Tchibo's offerings for next week? (1001 Styles)? Do you think any of them might work? Very cheap, but some out of stock already.

Tchibo

I have gone quiet because I have spent ages playing with the Matelan fitting room function. How ace is that? I have been able to play with lots of outfits and I seem to be getting my fashion mojo back a bit.

OK.

First of all, get rid of that black and white skirt. Bin it.

Then, grab a friend and go shop for stuff you like and will enjoy wearing. There are no hard and fast rules......

I introduced a lovely word into our household for my son to use to describe mummy's large frame. You can use it if you like....."plumptious". That's me. Not big, not fat, I don't have bingo wings and a big bum I am quite simply ....... plumptious. And I wear what I like.
