any ideas where I can get a hooded spring coat that doesn't look like I'm off fell walking?

that's it really. New to this motherhood lark and discovered that trying to push a buggy uphill whilst holding an umbrella in strong wind wasn't really possible, so I need a hood. However, the only coats with hoods I've found are rather hiking/day out in the country style rather than 'glamorous woman who happens to be a mum'.

Please help me, I'm close to resorting to one of those plastic rain headscarves beloved by pensioners on a day trip to the seaside.

I've got one a bit like this - mine's from Laura Ashley and is just the right side of 'smart'. Hood is detachable too - always a bonus!

Give up. Unless you want a parka style (I didn't).

I spent ages looking for a decent hooded coat, unlimited budget, touring round sports shops, Harrods and everything in between.

Buy a nice mac/coat and a waterproof hat. Waxed cotton is very good.

thanks ladies! Was getting a bit close to buying one of those umbrella hat things

I feel a shopping trip coming on, and they are all under budget so might have to treat myself to something else...

Don't do hats otherwise I would!

Got this in my shopping basket. Just got to check their returns policy.

This has no hood, but they do nice rain hats.
