I was looking at Bobbi Brown stuff, some of which is very cheap and apparently new ... weird.
Not easy to shoplift that sort of thing I imagine.

there are websites where you can buy stuff really cheap, maybe they buy it from there or they work for the company.

there is a bit turnaround in most cosmetics so i suppose they have to sell it on somewhere.

Some beauty journalists sell unused and unwanted product samples on eBay.

my friend works for clarins and gets a ridiculous 60 or 65% off the products so obviously a very good discount although they are not allowed to sell it really. She also worked as a flight attendant and got it cheap on her travels etc and used to sell it on

I bought a Bobbi Brown palette off Ebay. Thankfully it arrived cracked so I had a legitimate reason to send it back.

It just didn't look or feel right and I realised what a fool I was because luxury make up is all a bit of a con anyway so technically it shouldn't matter if real or fake. But matters to me

aaah rookie- so there are fakes , I expect the brushes are fakes then , considering one brush costs more than that whole set.

I would rather buy the item from a cosmetic counter than risk ebay & fakes.

I remember years ago buying samples from ebay for MAC pigments (eyeshadow) as I was new to using them. I then opted for a full sized one at a fraction of the price.
I later got an email off another buyer who had bought from the same seller and advised me it may be fake...
I proceeded to check the item with MAC who confirmed it was fake. Apparently you can tell with the codes listed on the bottom of the item (well with the pigments anyway).

I also recall ebay stopping the sale of items in tester pots iykiwm.

Thinking about it, makeup is to be put onto your face and remember whatever you put on your skin a % gets absorbed and goes to your liver. Fine if its a genuine product thats been tested etc BUT what if its fake and made up of..anything.... not worth the risk imo.

Not only that but if fake the ingredient could cause blindness..in the case of fake mascara and eyeshadows.

Save your pennies and buy genuine.

I've bought two BB eyeshadow compacts on e-bay and they've been genuine.
I've also bought brushes and they have every appearance of a genuine BB brush - I've got the travel sized ones.

How would I know if they were fake?

There are websites in which you can buy in bulk for very low prices then sell on for profit.

My brother does it (not with make-up though) as he runs his own business he has access to lots of sites/cash 'n' carry etc where he can buy loads of stuff in bulk....comes in handy when I need to stock up on Tetly Tea

Though of course with all things there are always going to be fakes out there!
