Clothes sleuths, please help with a Shalwar Kameez-y type outfit

I've got a fantasy outfit in my head which I've never actually tracked down, tho I'm sure it must exist somewhere. Can the clever sleuths try for me please?

It's got to be in light cotton I think...or a smart version would be in a floaty expensive something - It's a long tunic (slightly above the knees I guess) with side splits, pockets, demure neckline. Worn over trousers but not balooning ones, straight narrow ones.

It doesn't sound like anything exciting, written down like that, but I just know it would be so comfy and elegant. I've got two summer weddings coming up and I'm hopeful that this mythical outfit might do me for them, and for every other nice function I'll ever go to, for time everlasting...

I have several outfits like that and I wear them often to posh-ish events and have always got compliments

I won't be any help to you though, as I bought them when I went to India...the boutiques in Mumbai (Bombay) are to die for!!!

Whereabouts are you Peggy? If you have any asian shops near you that's a good starting point.

Otherwise asian magazines like 'Asian Woman' will have pics of similar outfits, that you could have made for you.

I've got tonnes too but my dh works in Bangladesh so i stock up big time and give similar outfits to friends and family.

The most popular shop in Bangladesh with expats (ie clothes have a slightly Westen twist) is Aarong. They sell clothing, jewellery, shoes, bags, accessories, lamps, pots, toys, all utterly gorgeous.

They used to have an outlet in Shoreditch in London.

Some Asda's do an Asian clothing range.

Hmmm, I am close enough to Glasgow...there is presumably a part of Glasgow that has Asian shops...will investigate. I suppose I had a fear that they'd all be nylon but that's daft innit?

The sky is the limit cost-wise, so there should be something to suit your quality/budget range.

South side of Glasgow- Pollockshields. Shields Road underground and walk up Shields Road and take a left after the church. That area has loads of shops. I like East Meets West, lots of nice sparkly pumps... speak to the shop assistants, they should help.

Definitely not just nylon! I have some beautiful ones in silk. Also cotton. And can second the shops in Glasgow. Birmingham is very good, too, if you are ever in that vicinity.

Yes I was so misinformed on the nylon thang... I've just spent half an hour drooling over www.badials.com and the next half an hour trying to make my link work. How lush some of these things are!
