Benefit Makeup

I so desperately want to like benefit, it's packaging is so pretty ... but, it does nothing for me. I tried this at the weekend but it made no difference to my cheeks at all - the poor makeup girl kept slapping it on but nothing.

I also tried high beam and moon beam recently with the same effect - nothing at all really, the slightest smidge of a shimmer.

Is it just me? am I doing it wrong or are they just not very good?

I have only used their benetint tinted moisturiser and I love it but havent tried anything else-sorry!

I've just started using it and am reasonably pleased - it is very subtle though, which I've been happy about as I've never worn makeup before.

So I'm doing a few dots of moonbeam dotted & blended on the apples of my cheeks and on my brow bones (? is that what it's called? the bit below the eyebrow). And then some rush hour on my cheeks for colour.

I also use Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm as moisturiser so that my whole face has a sheen, if that makes sense. I have olive skin.

I'm not terribly impressed either - I have a couple of things, and neither work very well

Ooh I love it!

I went for a make over at the counter though and the girl showed me how and where to use the various make up bits I was interested in.

I love "that gal" primer and I got the debutante set for my birthday and I use it every day. The "brow zings" is very good too.

The mascara is great, it makes you look as if yu have hundreds and hundreds of individual lashes (I assume it's brush thing rather than anything to do with the mascara goop itself).

Would expire without Benefit - love "Some kind of gorgeous" base, "Dandelion" blusher, "Erase paste" and "Powderflage". They also do a really good benetint lipstain/gloss stick. It is subtle but as I'm pale-ish find that with lots of other make up it looks like I've trowelled it on- not a good look for me!

I really love it.

Not that I can afford my BeneFit habit any more .

I restrict myself now to Bad Gal eyeliner and the colour plump lip pencil thing.

Never got on with Benetint though, Emperor's New Clothes, IMHO.

Tbh I have tried it and agree that it is not as good as I thought it would be due to the hype.

Actually the packaging and wacky names put me off more than anything, too try hard.

Think it is overpriced for what it is.

Afraid I was put off it years ago when every one was buying that crappy kitten powder.

What was it - a powder puff with powder in it for £20!!

Pretty packaging though.

I like some of it. I use Benetint, Dandelion, high beam and the mascara. I agree that the posietint is too pale.

I have the High beam, but I prefer the No7 version or Barbara Daly's for Tesco!

Just bought Erase Paste and sadly it's not covering my dark under eye circles very well.

[still looking for a miracle]

Emperor's New Clothes, in my experience. Mascara went all runny and streaked down my face, Benetint looks lovely but you have about two seconds to get it off before it dyes your face, so mistakes are a nightmare. They do a decent yellow concealer which makes my pink nose (yes, am a rabbit) less obvious, but I think it tends to be overpriced.

I'm using their foundation a pressed powder (some kinda gorgeous) and it goes on really nicely. Also use their mascara (bad girl), got given their blusher but haven't used it yet as is a bit pink.

I really love Hoola. It is a brilliant thing for anyone like me who is a bit sallow and yellowish and in need of help in order to actually look alive. Also the tinted moisturiser is fab. And I also like Lemonaid.

so a bit hit and miss then by all accounts.

I can't really afford to splash out on things that might not work for me ...what's the deal with samples, can I just ask or do I have to buy something first? [scaredi cat emoticon]

Yonks ago when I was going through my Clinique phase they poitively chucked samples at me, not sure what the protocol is these days

Maybe at 39 I am just too old for Benefit

I'm sure you are not too old at 39. At least I hope not as am 41.

Ooh I love high beam (browbones and top of cheek bones) and moon beam (apple of cheeks).

I also like dandelion, hoola and lemonaid

Report
MissWooWoo · 18/01/2010 18:08

am I missing the point with the high/moon beams? when I tried them I couldn't really see any difference at all - they were put on by the lady at the counter too. I know it's supposed to be subtle (I'm not into heavily made up so that suits me) but really so subtle that you'd need a microscope?

My skin is pale so would think that things would "show up"
