Eyeshadow with Blue Eyes?

juneybean · 08/12/2009 23:19

I want to buy my friend some eyeshadows for christmas as she says she's sick of using the same colours.

She has blue eyes, what colours go best with these?

Ooo that's pretty! Thank you! I'll probably go to superdrug tomorrow and see what they have on offer, look for a palette of browns

I have funny coloured eyes. When I use green they look more blue and when I use purple they look more green, people always think I have coloured contact lenses in when I change my eyeshadow. Barry M is good for statement/going out/slutty eyes or No7 usually.

I have blue eyes and also v. pale skin like a redhead (brown hair tho) and I wear a bobbi brown one (pricey! But there are v. good copies) in a greyish brown. I found that brown brown (IYKWIM) can look too orangey.
Good earth and cappucino on supersal's link are similar to the one I use.

But maybe you could get a big palette with lots of colours? Revlon used to do a lovely one which was reasonable in price and had 9 eyeshadows, and they also had a lipstick one.

It depends what she wants it for, going out or everyday wear. Browns are a good safe option but really boring. Purples are good for going out; I have blue eyes and most often deploy purple, green, green/blue or shock horror even blue shadow as part of my dress-up slap. What's the rest of her colouring like, and what is she sick of wearing already?

I think it's for going out, she usually wears black/dark grays.

She's not pale, but she's not tan.

A rich copper makes blue eyes really stand out . Ruby and millie do a duo with that colour and a dark grey, its really nice

I would recommend Urban Decay palettes - they are about £16-£20 and have about 9 eyeshadows of different colours, some of them are bright going out ones (sparkly black, gold, purple) but some are good for everyday use (copper, browns, sandy colours, pale lilacs).

Or, Lancome quartet eyeshadows are also extremely good wuality and would be a nice treat - think they are about £25 a pop.

For something a bit cheaper, Maybelline (don't laugh, I hate maybelline stuff usually but this is good) does an eyeshadow quartet in khaki greens/browns which looks good - is about £6 iirc.

you see i never ever ever buy palettes of sets

single colours all the way for me

Why single colours only?

I love palettes - it is the adult equivalent of getting a new tin of paints.

almost AL mac - a couple of nars ones

can't be arsed with all the rummaging around for individual pots. Want it all in one place.

Mind you I am wearing eyeshadow from 2 different palettes this morning so my theory is disproved.

Never used Nars eyeshadow - they all seem electric colours. And there is nowhere within 50 miles which sells mac stuff so am Mac virgin.

Okay, the eye shadow colour which suits her depends on the tone of her complexion as well as the colour of her eyes.

If she has 'warm' tones her skin will have a peachy/creamy appearance, so warmer shades will suit; if her skin is more blue/pink she has a 'cool' complexion, so cooler shades are best.

I'm the latter, and the make up artist (ahem) I saw the other week recommended pale pink, lilac, purple, navy, silver, grey, burgundy (not all on the eyelid, obviously).

I've been wearing shades of peach, beige and brown for years, and now realize that they were flattening me.

Also, if she has deep-set eyes (like me), she has to have the palest shades possible on the eyelid to bring them forward.

I have blue eyes and wear a very pale beige colour from my lids up to my brows.
Then i use a eyeshadow cream from bobbi brown - cant remember the name - think its beach bronze - it is like a shimmering brown/bronze and it lovely.

I cant wear orangey browns because they make my eyes look bloodshot!

I am a bit boring though with my eyes and don't use eyeliner (it always ends up running or smudging - how do i stop this?) - just shadow and a black mascara on top lashes.

I wear body shop colours - i use pebble grey on my lid, something that looks like golden khaki (but isn;t because it's no. 9 - which dooesn't seem to be available there) up to my brow and varying amounts of their no 12 (again not there) which is a mid brown that I put on my outer lid - just a dab during the day, more at night. body shop do nice natural shades and, imo, naturals look best with blue eyes. (in fact naturals look best in general)shop colours here www.thebodyshop.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/product.aspx?ParentCatCode=C_Makeup&CatCode=C_Makeup_Ey es&prdcode=30379m
