Washed linen sheets

I want some washed linen sheets! But I don't feel like paying 330 euros for a double duvet cover, plus a whole lot more euros for the fitted undersheet and four pillow cases, that the sheets will cost me in Caravane (where I have seen them). Has anyone got any ideas where I can get them at a decent price online? I want pretty colours.

I buy mine in brocante and antique fairs. Dye them in you want different colours (I love old linen and that faded cream colour old linen sheets have).

Incidentally, my old labrador has just had an operation and I have run out of old sheets and towels to use as he keeps bleeding. A neighbour has just given me "an old sheet" of his mothers to use - it is beautiful heavy old linen, which seems criminal to use to line a dog basket!

Have you checked the 'usual suspects' like White Company and Designer's Guild?

Do the ones you want (the 330 euros ones) ever go on sale? That might be the best option for getting what you want at a price that is more reasonable.

Would also check big department stores - Liberty, Harrod's etc as i can recall getting wonderful sheets at a deep discount (at Liberty) just after Christmas a few years ago when they were clearing stock.

The thing is that the old linen sheets you get in the brocante aren't duvet covers and fitted sheets and modern sized pillow cases! I'm definitely after a more modern look than old sheets dyed can give me.

I can wait until the Caravane ones come on sale but I might wait a very long time! White Company is not my style (too executive housing...) but will check out Designer's Guild.

Coals to Newcastle maybe, but La Redoute have some linen duvet covers. Any good? There are some deeper colours too.

I have researched this further... apparently cheap linen doesn't last (it gets holes) and it is vital to buy heavy, thick linen sheets. I have found an alternative supplier (Secret Maison) and will go to check out prices tomorrow...

Cheap linen is rough and doesn't last. Heavy good quality linen gets softer and better as it washes and lasts generations.
