What sandals should I be wearing?

I need versatility (casual to smart-casual) and comfort as I walk a lot.

I am living in flip flops atm, which are good for 'casual' but not right for work. I would like to get just one pair that will work with most things day to day. Help please...

anything that is comfortable.
i prefer birkenstocks, or fitflops myself, but then i like the tough firm but flexible base. lots of people wear amazing looking sandals, that have flimsy bits of card for a base, that i coudlnt wear in a carpeted house. you just need to find something that fits comfortably, and you like the look of. and stick to it

I have a nice pair from Jasper Conran at Debenhams. Not flash, they are tan gladiators, but they have a little wedge heel so are good with trousers as well as jeans and skirts.

I have flip flops and birkies but my "casual to smart-casual" sandals of choice are leather strappy flat sandals with a thin leather sole. I bought them 2 years ago from Next for less than £20 a pair (in silver and gold) and have worn them loads. They are still going strong but that's probably because I rarely wear the same pair of shoes 2 days running (and sometimes not for an entire day .....I don't have too many shoes, honest)

Mrs JS! No 'Toast' sandals for you?

How've you found the sale this year, incidentally?

Some bright, flat gladiator type sandals - New Look have got electric blue and red...

Clarks (yes, Clarks!) have some really nice gladiators in different colours - comfortable and well made, unlike a lot of the cheaper, fashion gladiators. They're definitely this summer's key trend in sandals

I have got these and they are comfy enough for my 2 mile round trip of a school run...and are ok for my office as well.

I tried New Look last weekend and left in dispirited mode. I don't know if it was their mirrors or what, but everything I tried on looked awful. And I looked wildly out of place amongst the 13 year olds, it was very unsettling.

I do like those blue sandals though giantkatestacks. May brave a repeat visit in the week when it will hopefully be quieter.

My one is near my office in Moorgate so full of 30-something women...

BTW, is a small wedge heel a key look now? I saw some of those style in New Look as well. They looked like some my mum had circa 1981.

MrsSB - I remember my Mum having some pretty similar to this as well. I have seen this heel in a lot of places.
