Black for a wedding??

I am going to a big scottish wedding with new DP in 2 weeks (first time meeting his friends and family)!!
It sounds like a pretty big event - ceremony, formal sit down dinner, and evening party!!
DP is useless when questioned on how smart, where it is etc, he doesnt care will be wearing his kilt (wooohooo )

Am a bit short of cash, and a bit on the large size (18) !
However I have a lovely dress I wore for my xmas do (only worn it the once) - it is a black floaty shift type dress (kinda 60's) - but it is black, it is floaty with paler black circles so not a solid block of colour and just above knee length!!
I wore it with silver shoes and accessories and felt really good and comfy in it all night - so am thinking will wear it!

I am however concerned about black at a wedding?? Thoughts?? I may get a bog silver pashmina rather than the black jacket I wore for xmas ! Can I wear it am not sure I can face shopping for a new dress nor afford it really!!

Black and silver will look gorgeous

(what is bog silver ? A pashmina is a great way to soften a look)

I have worn black to many weddings, it's my favourite colour You could soften it with a coloured pashmina ~ I often use them for this very reason

Enjoy your kilted man!

e bay. I have got several from there for as little as £4. Not real pash's of course, but fab for cheapies. You might have to go with silver grey rather than silver iyswim.

I'm sure I read somewhere that wearing black to a wedding means you disapprove of the bride! also a bit funereal IMO.
There are some lovely dresses in Debenhams at the moment, have a look on their website, I believe they have a sale/outlet page on there now as well.

I've been to loads of Scottish formal weddings including my own and have worn many black dresses with coloured/silver/gold accessories, as have most of my friends. Think the silver pashmina will look lovely. Have a great time!

A cream jacket would be nice with cream sandals and silver assecories. A jacket may look a bit smarter for the ceremony then take it off for the evening.

Or add a coloured jacket like this from M&S??
