I need to look fabulous but I do not have fabulous money - help me find a substitute for this dress

this is my dream dress that I cannot afford

I need a dress to attend an upmarket christening, and a black tie event (if can use dress for both, would be good)

It has to be fashionanble! It has to be less than £400 and I do like the 1 shoulder dresses. Colours, I don't know! Can one wear black to a christening?!! Length? Knee, on knee or short. Boobs? 30dd. Size 8-10. Babybelly? Yes, exists when sitting down

I was thinking this, but is it black-tie-worthy? Is it too A/W?

Have a little look around the website, its mega affordable and even has a £10 sale on! Some lovely fashionable and unusual dresses.

LOVE the Whistles one, and the Feretti, that debenhams one is surprisingly nice too (though I am worried too many ruffles)

Is this too young? I am 31....

I saw that Oasis Origami dress too and liked it...why the one shoulder obsession pray tell?

Report
missblythe · 17/03/2009 22:03

I think that Oasis one is gorge-also not TOO expensive, so could always get something else for the christening, and wear that for the party, if you are worried about wearing black

Report
missblythe · 17/03/2009 22:05

Lipsy one's a bit dodgy, and their stuff is often ropey fabric, so think would look a bit cheap. Sorry!

Laundryfairy I really really love that one. It is a total bugger they only have in a 12!!!!

Mrsjohnsimms thanks so much for all those links, there are lots of seriously gorgeous dresses there, and I am feeling very excited!

That oasis one is a good value buy, but my only worry for the black tie event is - horror of horrors - someone else is wearing tthe same dress (in other words social death)
