Advise me on hair colour please!

OK, I'm 37, very pale, with naturally mid-brown hair (with some grey), currently just past my shoulders. Naturally wavy but I normally straighten it, and it's been blonde for nearly 9 years.

I like my blonde hair but lately have been feeling a bit of a fraud because my mixed-race DDs go on all the time about wanting blonde straight hair, so am considering going back to brown, and wearing it curly some of the time - for a while at least.

Thing is, when my hair was brown before I always looked a bit deathly - a lighter colour seems to suit my pallor rather better. So what do I do? I don't mind doing something quite bold with blocks of colour, but definitely need some ideas - ideally with pictures.

Any thoughts?

What about a soft caramel/toffee colour (can you tell I am hungry?), or like Jennifer Aniston's colour (I'd love my hair to be that colour).
