Is this dress OK?

Don't normally post here, but have lost the style plot in recent years. Haven't bought anything new for a long time as was carrying too much baby weight. Now have lost some of it, and need outfits for two weddings (neither are posh). I want outfits that I can get plenty of wear out of, and that are understated. What do you think if this? I'm mid 40s, short (5'3''), size 10-12 and have large boobs and not much waist.
Any other ideas gratefully received (but nothing that shows my legs please, as they're hideous).www.whitestuff.com/BUTTERFLIES-DRESS-P24327/

Nice dress, byt knowing th whitestuff clothes, its probably not very weddingy material. Plus I think you'll be able to find something a lot more flattering

Like it, looks like you could dress it up with jewellry - actually like the other dresses on the site too though some look a little short?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not too worried about it not being weddingy enough, as both are quite casual. However, do wonder as you say quint whether it may not be very flattering - possibly it's more designed for a nubile surfer chick type rather than my more (ahem) matronly figure.

Agree some of the other dresses are also nice, but would definately have to avoid the shorter ones

From what you've said it doesn't sound like you have a matronly figure at all! Size 10 /12, I think you could be a lot more daring and get something more figure hugging. I think this dress will make you look matronly - it doesn't do much for the model

I like it

I like it - I have a couple of white stuff dresses and they are lovely, however, I am 5'7 and they come to just below my knees, so you may want to bear that in mind!

Its ok...a little like a kimono though. I would wear killer navy suede heels and blue sparkly dangler earrings.

Honestly....it looks a little frumpy to me. With a size 10/12 body and great boobs I would want to go for something a bit more flattering as you're bound to be able to get away with it. Stick with a long or 3/4 length dress if you don't like your legs, but what about something more fitted, perhaps sleeveless with a pretty cardi/wrap over the top.

Agree with everyone else - the dress is a nice shape, but maybe something a bit slinkier would be more weddingy? If your arms are up to it, how about this pink dress?
Or coral
Or maybe another crossover one (make sure the high waistline doesn't make you look pregnant though).

Have you had a look at the Bravissimo website?

This dress is slightly more dressy than the White Stuff dress but being a neutral grey colour means you can change the look of it with different colour accessories or a jacket or cardi.

There are more here. Your figure sounds similar to mine (I'm a 12 with 34DD boobs) and Bravissimo is great for clothes that fit nicely on the waist, hips and shoulders but don't pull across the boobs.

Thanks for the ideas - like the bravissimo stuff, and also the last DP one.
Trust me - I'm a bit matronly round the stomach - but thanks for the votes of confidence!
Some great thoughts and ideas - man thanks everyone!

The Black Bravissimo dress is lovely and I would think would really suit your figure. You can always wrap a pashmina round your shoulders to keep warm and covered if you feel necessary!

Nice dress. Lovely website, hadn't heard of them. Nice stuff, bodenISH but cheaper.

Do you need a cleavage for these v-neck dresses. I have nothing. NOTHING.

Those knitted dresses, how long are they? I am only 5'2" but I've had to return dresses which were just ludicrously short.

sometimes, an item which is described as a dress in a website/catalogue aimed at women 35+ arrives and it is 7 inches above the knee. I ordered it cos I thought well that model is probably 5'10" so on me the length will be decent, but oddly, inexplicably despite myheight it was still too short.
