Help - interview next week... what do you think I should wear?

It's for a managerial but non-corporate post (in a school).

My only suit is ancient and sooooo not my style.

I would really like to wear a skirt with knee-high, low-heel boots / wide leg trousers with high heels, a smart shirt-style top and a normal winter coat.

I can't afford a new suit, and I feel the above lookis more me.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I bought a lovely new suit from George at Asda, only cost me £18 - why not have a look?

sounds perfect.

accessorise, make up, hair etc.

where the outfit (skirt/boots or trousers/heels) that you feel best in - think this is v important.

Is your suit really bad? I think a skirt is preferable to trousers for an interview, even if the job means that you will wear trousers non-stop.

Blimey, £18

Thanks for tip BouncingTurtle, I will have a look as I'm passing Asda tomorrow.

I was hoping to get away with not wearing a suit as suits aren't really my style (sorry if I sound a bit poncey) and I feel really uncomfortable in them.

Thanks for advice so far. Are skirts OK with knee high boots or will I look a bit hussyish (given that this is an interview and not a day out at the shops).

I don't agree about the skirt for interviews line at all, think that is pretty old fashioned these days (hopefully)

Is it for a teaching post?

I think a skirt and smart knee high boots sounds fine but would probably try and borrow/get old of/dig out a jacket to wear with the skirt: you can always take it off once it's been "seen"!

I think a skirt and nice top or good trousers and top would look better than a cheap suit tbh, especially if you feel more comfortable then.
