If you swim what products do you use on your hair?

I currently use Boots swim shampoo and Boots coconut and almond conditioner but my hair is STILL dry! ARGH. What?!

I also use leave in conditioner before I get in the pool and when I swim on my own I wear a swim cap (am not ready for the indignity of my friends seeing me in it). My hair still gets damp when I wear the swim cap so I may be using it wrong?

On my days not swimming I use Paul Mitchell sleek and shiny shampoo and Sunsilk Brunette shampoo.

I have only been going regularly for 3 months and I am gutted at the damage it is doing to my hair. I swim 5 days a week at the moment.

I go to hilarious gym that provides Molton Brown products (it's a long story) so I wash and condition my hair with their products immediately after I swim. I think it's just their standard stuff and I always leave the conditioner in for at least a few minutes.

At home, I do find that using quality shampoos help - I use a Kerastase one for slightly dry hair. It's more expensive but they last me about 3 - 4 months at least.

I have also found that since swimming regularly, I need to do a bit more so am doing a weakly treatment for strengthening my hair. It's one of those TGI (??) ones - a chocolate one.

The Paul Mitchell stuff I use at home is expensive (£12 a bottle!!) it smells lush though. I might see if there is a matching conditioner.

Extreme mirth at Molton Brown products BTW - my pool is a local leisure centre and we just have signs asking you not to shave your legs in the showe I would love to go to a lush gym like that.

I will look into a strengthening thingy good idea.

You don't use conditioner? My my, that's an absolute essential. I hadn't even considered you weren't already doing that.

If you like the PM stuff, stick with it but make sure you get one for dry hair and definitely definitely definitely use the conditioner.

Boots have a conditioner that you put on your hair before you swim to protect it from the chlorine, it's blue, but it works!

I use a L'oreal elvive intensive masque, comes in a tub, costs about a fiver. I leave it on for about half an hour once or twice a week, and my hair stays soft despite swimming.

No I do use conditioner.

I use Boots Coconut and Almond condition at the pool and Sunsilk Brunette conditioner at home.

I wear a swim cap about half the time.
