A question for those of you who wear skinny jeans...

If you don't mind me asking - what size are you? I'm a 10/12 but all my fat is on my hips, bum and thighs and of course I now have a muffin top. Anytime I have tried on a pair of skinny jeans I reckon I would need at least a size 14.
Now, normally I would stear clear, but Gok says anyone can wear them - IYO is this true?

Yes get some - M&S do some good ones that are only £25.

I wear with a t shirt and then a waterfall cardi over the top of that to disguise the fact that my flab is all around my middle though.

Hi Flier. Sounds like we are a similar shape and I wear skinny jeans too. To avoid muffin toppage, I wear at least a size bigger.

I think anyone can wear them - although I tend to go for "straight" rather than true skinnies. I really like Top Shop's martha jeans. They are virtually skinnies - just not as tight around the ankle and therefore more flattering imo.

can you tell me what you mean by a waterfall cardi?

would also recommend topshop's martha jeans and next skinnies aren't too skinny and yes - do go a size up if in doubt.

check.

so, Flier's shopping trip tomorrow consists of

Quiz- jersey dresses
M&S - skinnyish jeans
Topshop - Martha jeans

thanks all!

I am same size as you and yes I wear mine with pride and loose-ish tops. Best pair I have are from Topshop as they have good amount of stretch in them too which helps accommodate muffin arrangements. I think part of avoiding muffin top is getting the rise of them right as well. Mine are quite low, which means instead of cutting muffin in half, they actually sit below it, and therefore don't squeeze the hell out of it and make it look worse.

Tesco also had some good skinny but a bit stretchy jeans - cheapo too.

see my priblem is that I have a tiny waist, so if I went up to a size 14 to accomodate my derriere area then they never seem to fit me in the waist, but I will try topshop again. I have spent my life wearing things to hide my bum and will contnue to do so

Another huge fan of Topshop Marths jeans. I live in them. I'm a size 10, but wouldn't wear true skinnies. Maybe I would if I wore longer tops, but I don't.

I don't think it's what size you are that dictates whether you can wear skinny jeans. It's how unknobbly your knees are. I'm a size 8 and I would look deranged in a pair of skinny jeans because my knees are horrific. I envy you skinny-wearers!

Never thought I would or could wear them as size 12 and only 5ft 2,with love handles and muffin top!
However, got a pair from Principles that are stretchy and comfortable and quite high waisted.I wear with tunics/shirt dresses then another layer on top, either long cardigan or waistcoat, which hides offending areas!

What ARE skinny jeans? Surely people just wear jeans wot fit em?

All my jeans are skinny on me. That is there ain't no space between the material and my skin. Always has been all my life!

So - really, what ARE skinny jeans?

I am a big curvy size 14 at the moment due to too much food unforeseen circumstances, and yes I still squeeze my ass into my skinnies, goddammit! I can't breath,or bend over but if I walk fast enough, no one notices. Just beware what sort of top you wear with them.

I would love to wear skinnies but they won't go past my thighs

Not even in my size.

Does everyone size up then? If so, why on earth not make them in the correct fit?
