Help! Which dress should I buy/keep?

tkband3 · 15/12/2008 20:04

It's my 40th birthday next week and DH and I are going to Gordon Ramsay at Claridges for dinner (courtesy of a very nice wedding present from DH's best man). I had absolutely nothing to wear, so I have bought these two dresses. They arrived today, they both fit (I have also bought my first pair of Spanx , so I can hide any bulges) and look good (relatively!) but I can't decide which one to keep. One is almost floor length and I think it might be a bit too dressy, but it is the one I prefer.

this is the one I prefer, in black

or this one, which also looks good

Help please !

I can't find them!
It just goes to the front page.
Lucky you though, sounds like it will be a great night

B*gger. It worked in the preview. Will try again.

See if this works and then I'll do the second one.

what are the dresses called?

Oh this is really annoying . It works in the preview and then doesn't when I post the message for real.

If anyone can be bothered searching, you can narrow down the search by choosing dresses, then black, then £45-£60. Then the first one is the 'Vila Colour Block Dress' in black. For the second one you need to narrow the search to £30-£45 and it's the 'satin waist wrap dress'.

Thank you for helping, if you can be bothered to go through all that palaver .

I like them both, I prefer the length of the satin waist wrap one. They are both lovely.

Which one do you feel most comfy/glamourous in?

They are both night.

Which one will still be comfy after stuffing your face and possibly having to go to the loo to take your spanx off?

Thank you all! Yes, I was really pleasantly surprised by the dresses - and they weren't hideously expensive either.

Having tried them on, I'm not sure I'll need the spanx - a good pair of tummy control tights will probably do the trick...last thing I need is to not be able to eat anything . I think I will go for the satin one, but it's very tempting to keep both of them (not that I'll ever get the opportunity to wear them again!). I feel v. glam in both of them! Now I just need some shoes...think I'll have to brave the shops for them .

Not sure those shoes will quite work with either dress .

They are both lovely. But I think the second one is perfect for the occasion and you will get to wear it again.

Not necessarily with those shoes though!
