Anyone fancy helping me find a nice coat for my birthday?

I'm short and have a big bottom

I'd like something dressy, probably wool (or wool mix is fine). Must be feminine.

Long coats look ridiculous on me, like i'm wearing a dressing gown.

In my mind i'm thinking something shortish and capey with 3/4 length sleeves so i can wear some long gloves too. Will need to fitted in some way to stop me looking like a bin bag.

I tried one on in Zara today which was lovely but was a very pale pink colour which made me look very washed out, so preferably warmer colours.

Budget? would prefer as cheap as can be done but am a fan of hobbs, monsoon etc
Anybody have any ideas?

I loved all the coats in Benetton when i was there last month. They had a great one in black that sounds right up your street but I don't think they have a website and also, Benetton stores are concessions aren't they so they dont all sell the same stuff.

i'd done monsoon, zara and oasis but then everything closed and i had to go home.

I like this one in the green for a feminine cape like coat, but sleeves are long and cuffed:
cape jacket

just to clarify, i meant the benetton catalogue was rubbish not the clothes, the pictures made it impossible to see what the models were wearing.
just incase you thought i was being rude.

Thanks Dragonbutter. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for, there are some proper cape styles about too eg
black John Rocha
Betty Jackson one
double breasted one

i like the betty jackson one.
can't tell from the picture what the material is on the double breasted one, it looks a bit shiny on my screen.

The double breasted one is 100% cotton (says further down) which surprised me I expected wool and yes it looks shiny on my screen and I thought its the glossy buttons reflecting the light.

i got this one in topshop today. it's not really capey but does have a nice collar.

not sure the picture is doing it justice as it looks very dark, but it has a nice waist to it and the hood is detachable. the hood and jacket has a lovely purple lining and although the website says it's green you can see from the photo it's actually purple.

i'm thinking it would look good with a mustard yellow scarf tied in a bow.

what do you reckon?
i can take it back if everyone thinks it's hideous.

i know everybody's way too interested in 'it was so much better in the old days' threads, or 'i'm flouncing' or 'is my husband a twat?' threads, but i bought a new coat today and dammit i want somebody to agree with me that it is quite nice.

grrrrrrr.

Lol Dragon butter... it's more likely people still have work or getting kids ready, or are just avoiding commenting on a mustard scarf but despair not I think it's a good choice and love the purple lining.

aw thanks samsonara. are you new?

(not that it matters of course, we are all equal but i hadn't seen your name before that's all)

yes the mustard scarf made everybody run away i think.

thanks for replying.
