Skinny jeans and long cardi and boots?

There are lots of these cardis about and I am thinking they may be a solution for what to wear with jeans and boots. So I'm now wondering, will they make me look fat? I am a twelve but quite pear shaped,slim top half bigger hips bum and thighs. Also what do I wear underneath? Just a vest top and not take the cardi off? Or will it look stupid buttoned up?

leave unbuttoned and wear a top/ vest/ cami thing with detailing around the neck to draw the up away from the hips!
Otherwise make sure you are wearing necklace or whatever.

and leave as much skin as poss on collarbone area bare - slimmest part of your body! So no high-necks, nothing that conceals those lovely jutty-out bony bits.

OK, the jeans are a tad oversized, ditto the bag, but this is a nice top and cardi combo on Katie Holmes I think

The jeans are huge aren't they? wow! Will try and link to the kind of cardigan I'm thinking of in a minute but thanks and I think detail on the top is a good plan. I've got camis with lace at the top but they'd be too short and tight to wear with the cardigan so something a bit looser then...Got a ribbed one with buttons at the top but its not very smart, in fact I wore it to run a charity thing on sunday so perhaps it wouldnt work. Hmm will have to experiment I think. I'll get a cheap cardi I think, maybe primark? Zara?

Gap has some nice scoop neck t-shirts which would work. Not as clingy as a vest top and you can leave the cardi open or take it off.

Ooh still got 30%off GAP, might go back in tomorrow as may as well buy while its cheap (er). Saw two girls in the same type of cardigan, one looked brilliant. She was tall and skinny though. I am tall but not skinny.

I have a long cardigan - it looks best done up over a sleeveless top in a contrasting colour.

Done up you say Anna? I am hoping it will be ok done up on me too then I can just wear a ribbed vest top type thing under? Liking idea of putting it with a denim skirt too. I just need one now! Yes the GAP thing is still valid today. The shop assistant gave me two extra ones when I paid but I don't think I'll be using them and can't seem to give them away.

Done up over a ribbed vest sounds fine - or even something a bit more glamorous than a vest.

Personally I think this look looks much better over tight flared jeans and high heels than over a skirt.

I think so TsarChasm! I thought my nappy bag was big! Anna what do you mean something more glamorous? Like a camisole type thing? Am going to wear with my skinny jeans and boots over when it gets cold. Otherwise I never wear my skinnies as none of my tops are long enough.

I love this look too - am buying up all the nice tunic tops and long cardis I can find - Fat Face has a nice selection this year and Next do some longer chunky cardigans (have the cream and just ordered the grey which look great buttoned up over cords or jeans and are good for this time of year when it's not quite cold enough for a coat.

I wear them over jeans and boots with something like a contrasting Top shop ribbed vest if i plan to keep the cardi on or a simple White Stuff l/s v neck t shirt underneath if I don't.

I'm a curvy size 12 at the moment but find long tops really flattering with slimmer jeans and also love the fact that you can bend over in them at playgroup without flashing my knickers or worse, seveal inches of builders bum in low slung jeans!

kt14 thats exactly what I'm hoping for! Can't seem to find any long enough tops so thought this would be a good alternative. Will have to not take off though as my jeans are too tight really so I feel self conscious unless I have a long top on.
