Please help - Gold strappy sandals needed - Indian wedding advice

Hi Ladies

We have been invited to an indian wedding soon and am wearing a very beautiful lilac/mint green lengha with gold thread.

Am trying to find some nice gold sandals in a size 4 to finish the outfit but am struggling - If only had thought about it before all the sales started.

Will really appreciate it if somebody can point me in the right direction - do you think I need clutch bag or something too?

Am also looking for sandals for DD too in size 13 - she is also wearing lengha - blue and pink but looks like it has silver stitching instead so am thinking silver sandals.

Have been told by another friend not to wear undies as lenghas are heavy but norks are size 32gg so am thinking not such a good idea - any advice would be really welcome.

sorry one more question - what to do with hair - have longish shoulder length mousy blonde bob but am at hairdressers week before wedding so will consider anything.

Am going to be the only white family going - with over 300 guests - so want to get it right as I know all the other ladies are going to be stunning.

Barratts and dorothy perkins often good for sparkly sandals, also New Look

what neckline has your lengha? if the straps won't show then certainly wear a bra. Actually at 32gg if straps would show get a strapless one.

I'd book a blowdry for the morning of the wedding and wear some long earrings - updo not necessary

NB are you practised at wearing a dupatta elegantly?

if not, get going

Mrs Badger

Thanks so much, have only just got suit - bought it to work today to show off everyone and it went down well. Work in nursery - children loved it keep calling me "pretty girl" now.

Bra straps do not show has round neck line and vest type sleeves.

Wedding is a sunday so will struggle to find hairdressers open - will try and chat mine up see if she fancies doing it.

Meant to say have been told by friends need to wear sandals with heel. Skirt is really long too so need extra height to carry it off.

Will keep practising at home.

Lelli Kelli for your dd?

Much as I'm loathed to mention their name but Next had some girls silver sandals in their sale.

IIRC they were silver, quite strappy toe post ones with big fake clear jewels on. Might be OK for your daughter (my DD who is 8 fell in love with them anyway....not that I bought them for her, I bought her the more sensible birkie-style white ones )

I got some lovely strappy silver sandals from Faith recently for my blue/silver suit
Wear underwear, always safer, and there should be some clips at the top of the shirt to clip your bra straps to so that they don't show.
Perhaps a bindi in a matching colour for your forehead
see here
Any hairstyle that makes you look fabulous, plus nice earrings and necklace and you'll be sorted
Have a fun time

Cant help with shoes cos I'm on a handheld but def agree about the jewellery - everyone will be wearing tons! Have you got bangles? They are a must and ask someone to show you the correct order for them. Def matching bindhi too.

Remember to fold the dupatta and have it pulled down a bit at the front - don't throttle yourself with it!
I tend to wear mine over one shoulder when I'm bending over a lot as I get sick of rearranging it.

I copied someone else and tucked one corner of the dupatta in my waistband at the front, round the back, up in front and pleated over shoulder like the end of a sari
helped cover the unexpectedly generous cleavage/midriff combo the lengha flashed

Ladies thank you - some excellent tips.

Will definitely sort out bindi - can I buy these online (How does it stay in plce?) and friend is arranging bangles for me.

Have just seen some nice shoes on Debenhams website here www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_17806_552456_-1

but not sure on height will need to try them on. Also love the ones chops suggested - great bags too.

Mrs Badger my DD would love those sandals from next but like you I can't stand heels for young girls.

Have ordered DD's suit - will hopefully come today - keep eyeing up a Sari (sp?) for myself - would love to wear one but friend's blouses wouldn't go anywhere near my norks!!

Think it may be the only chance I ever have to wear one.

Bindi's are like stickers, they are sticky on one side, which you peel off a sheet, and they will stick on to your forehead! WRT the Dupatta, use safety pink to keep in place, I would suggest pleating it, and pinning to your blouse at the shoulder (ON the inside) You will need a bra btw, for the support, esp if the top is embellished heavily.

There is a fine art to wearing a sari well, so if you go for it, have plenty of practice and use lots of safety pins! For the blouses, you cn have a blouse made to fit you perfectly, if you want to try, also Sari blouses are made very cleaverly, with room to 'let out' at the side seams, so you may be able to alter one of your friends blouses, and then alter back if you really want to wear one.

Have loads of fun.

bindis online

I find good tip with bindis is to match the shape to the shape of your face. They work nicely like that.

cholis ae best made to fit, especially with bigger norks. They can make it to flatter your figure.

I would start with your lengha at the moment
The colours sound lovely
I can't see your shoes on the link but I think it will look gorgeous
If you have a shop selling Indian fabrics or clothes near you, they will probably have some bindis.
We have a few in our town and we are not a major city
And although saris are gorgeous, they can be quite tricky to wear.
I start off looking very smart (get pinned in place by my SIL) but find with small children and going to the bathroom it gets difficult staying together.
My relatives will wear saris until dinner, and then all ages retire to the bathrooms to change into something more comfortable(like a a lengha or a suit) to dance in
