online guide to up-do hair styles?

I'm going to a wedding in August and want to wear my hair up. I prefer my hair down to be honest, but fancy a change and also it will hopefully be hot. Also, I'd like to wear a fancy hair accessory (can't be bothered with hat) and it is difficult to make that work without a bit of an up-do I think.

I have long, thick dark hair. Any tips? I ususally just tie my hair back in a ponytail with the hair pulled half-way back through the band (IYSWIM) and haven't done anything more exciting than that for years. Do you know of a site that does step by step guide to a more interesting look? I'm thinking a kind of tousled bun, but would like some ideas. Thanks!
