It's my Grandad's funeral on Thurs. Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go as I've just moved to the other end of the country. Anyway, I can go, but have just realised that I must have chucked out my only black dress. I need a whole outfit (minus shoes), and I need to be able to get it this afternoon. Am also strapped for cash.

Am aiming to buy the following:

  • Dress or skirt & blouse (in fact I have a grey tweed skirt already which might do)

  • Jacket (something which will be wearable with jeans etc afterwards).

That's it actually. Can't be that hard, right? [anxious]

If you have a white shirt or blouse, I'd wear the white shirt with the grey tweed skirt and just add a black jacket.

Wagwan - I think we have most shops round here, but I'm not entirely sure where to find them all. Jacket looks promising. Will see if we have a Debenham's.

P&L - good idea. Was going to get a black blouse, but that might be a bit OTT.

That's good wagwan...and I know where M&S is!

Do you think this jacket is too businessy?

think its fine for funeral, not so sure you could wear with jeans, are the sleeves 3/4?

Well, it was a very unsuccessful shopping trip. Couldn't find any long or 3/4 length sleeve jackets. Grr.

Will be borrowing summat from my sister, which means it will almost certainly be either sparkly or fluffy or both

Thanks for your help though.
