I am THIS CLOSE to seriously cotemplating Botox... tell me there is a way to get rid of frown lines!

I'm oly 30 ffs!

Am watching Eastenders, am aware my forehead is not that dissimilar to Bianca's

A helpful colleague at work told me I needed to stop frowning the other week

I don't think I'm exaggerating...

Is there any hope???

I have no advice for you.

I just wondered if, when writing your thread title, you put your finger and thumb really close together to illustrate the "this close"-ness, even though you know we can't see your finger and thumb.... ?

Am developing the habit of examining my brow whilst waiting at traffic-lights etc

But do anti-wrinkle creams actually work?

Ok, serious question

Are there any decent anti-wrinkle creams?

I don't want this to start getting me down

Am not usually the sort of person to get dragged down by vanity concerns or body image

aldi one has seriously had excellent reviews and ratings.

do you need glasses? is taht making you frown

i know a very good clinic near me that does botox etc and serious cosmeceuticals.

Yes, good idea re eye test

I guess Aldi is cheaper than Botox! (Really can't believe I am sort-of thinking about this)

The horror stories, though...

Seriously, though, the frown lines are BAD

Elemis do a pen thing that you draw on your wrinkles which is meant to be really good. I think it's really concentrated stuff.Haven't tried it (expensive) but elemis stuff in general is good.

they do advise you to start young with botox, they would though, but my friend has had it and looks fantastic. the only thing is you do have to keep it up, she has 2 lots a year at £1500 a pop, fillers inc.

hers was with a top man, she did have two large deep wrinkles in between her eyes, around her eys done and deep wrinkles at each side of her nose.

Yes, it's the deep wrinkles between eyes I am concerned with

And I think anti-wrinkle cream is the shutting door after horse has bolted thingy

I use Boots No 7 version of Touche eclat on my number 11's and that seems to detract slightly.

no, fringe and glasses (bright plastic frames) do a LOT to distract.

Botox got a bad press in New Scientist recently (crossed blood-brain barrier or summat...)

I just cannot manage a fringe. Hair will just not allow it.

Tell me more about the blood-brain thing

here we go... Botox "can travel down nerve fibres and into the brain within days. While the effects of this are unknown, it raises fresh questions about the safety of the drug, which had been assumed to remain at the site of the infection. ..."

[more here about injecting into rats etc Researchers say they suspect spread is common but might even be beneficial - they don't say more]

and in same article:

"... the US Food and Drug administration is reviewing the safety of Botox due to fears it can occasionally cause breathing difficulties and death. ..."

Doesn't specifically say these two parts of the report are connected and the research is new Italian stuff published in the Journal of Neuroscience.

Somehow gotta learn to love those lines on your face......but god it is hard when we are constantly told we need to get rid of them.

When I feel like Botox at the moment, I listen to KT Tunstall "Suddenly I see". She says :

Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

I am sure it's not about not getting Botox, but to me it is saying that your face is yours and can be beautiful in a different way with wrinkles and all ! It doesn't matter.

But god, it is hard to resist when it is so cheap now (not £ 1500 round our way - more like £ 150 !)
