My hair is very dry and I don't know what to do....

I mean dry like straw.

Have been colouring it for years and decided to let the last colour grow out, but my hair takes forever to grow and I need to do something.

The new hair that is all natural and uncoloured, and not dry, is too short for me to have everything else cut off.

I have tried those intensive moisturising mask things and they don't seem to help.

Really, really, really don't want to put another colour on it (although I know this would fix it in the short term)

Any ideas?

oh, and I condition it with every wash, have tried washing every day, every other day, leaving it as long between washes as poss and nothing seems to work...

Paul Mitchrll The Conditioner - is a fab leave in conditioner that will sort it out - is not heavy either so you can dry and style as per normal!

thank you, can you get it in tescos and the like, or do I have to buy it from a hairdresser?

I get mine in the local hairdresser - it is quite expensive but lasts forever and you can use it to shave your legs and as a moisturiser too!

great, thanks for the tip(s) I'll have a look out for it in town tomorrow.

(do the hairs on your legs grow back all soft and conditioned?)

I have just packed him nervously back off to nusery! It is no longer swollen, cut is healing, is looking purple and yellow, eyeball still bright red on one side. Hope he is ok, bless him!

Aussie stuff you can buy a sachet for about a quid or a bottle, think it about a fiver so may want to try sachet first. Is quite thick so need to rinse really well.

I am brunette at the mo and thinking of growing it ou but will take yonks!

I use Aussie 3 minute miracle too, they do one for coloured hair too. Take a wide-toothed comb into the shower and comb it through, it makes a world of difference.

Have you tried oiling it? Use a heavy oil, coconut if you can get it or olive oil. Warm the oil and apply to hair. Comb through. Either leave it on for several hours (while you're at home in the evening) or leave it on overnight (wrap a towel around your pillow). Then wash off.

haven't thought of oil.

Had a slight accident with some baby oil when I was a teenager and it took weeks to get it out of my hair, so putting oil on it would have been the last thing I thought of

I'll check that out as well, ta.

2nding Aussie 3 minute miracle - I use this everytime I wash my hair as it otherwise gets very dry. Leave on for a good 3mins before rinsing. You can also get some Aussie leave in conditioner that you spray in afterwards which I think helps (its a bit difficult to tell with my hair - its rather thick and curly!)

Won't using olive oil leave the hair greasy?

The best product for dry coloured hair that I've ever tried aas KERASTASE satin bath.- a weekly mask, will leave your hair in amazing condition. Not cheap- about 20 squids but will last you for months!!

The best product in the market! It's been produced for years and years!

Please give it a go...you won't regret it!

Olive oil shouldn't leave hair greasy. I use neem oil quite regularly and it shampoos out in the morning leaving my hair glossy. I have very dry hair though, I don't know what effect oiling hair would have on someone with normal/greasy hair.

Also, make sure you're getting enough essential fatty acids as they have a huge impact on hair condition. (and B vits??) You can but special hair/skin/nails vits - Holland and Barrett ones are very reasonable.

i know this sounds crackers but in my youth I once used mayonnaise as a conditoner (forget why) and my hair was like silk afterwards!
