Thought I might look chic and stylish wrapped in a pashmina. Turns out I look like a flood victim huddling in a blanket. Why is this?

Is it because the pashmina is pistachio green? Green is a very good colour on me, but perhaps is not such a great colour on a pashmina.

Is it because I have the figure of a beachball am pregnant?

Is it because I'm not doing it right?

Is it because I have no innate style and should accept that borrowing DP's purple anorack is my zennith when it comes to matters of style?

I have a pashmina that I only wear when reading in bed because on me it is definitely flood-victim material. Tonight, however, DD has borrowed it because she felt cold in her fancy dress

envy I was that thin once......

i have a wool shawl that an Indian friend taught me how to drape on and secure with pins, and you leave more drape at the back so you can put it over your head if it rains - but you have to pin it on.

that and the way Minky described are the only ways I don't look like I tried to rob a fabric shop.

Oh PMSL! grin Thanks OP!

PMSL!!!
I found this video
"How to wear a pashmina"
but this computer I am on now hasn't got speakers so I've no idea of what she is saying... but you get the picture

I was wearing one last autumn thinking I looked very bohemian, and a male friend said to me "are you wearing a pashmina or did you just not notice the bed sheet still wrapped around you when you got up this morning"!!! He had a point I think. You do see some people wearing them and looking so fabulously casual. I tend to fold in half, loop through and wear as scarf now.

I don't actually think you have to be thin per se - but i do think you have to be an 'egg on legs' or apple shape, rather than a beautiful womanly hourglass or pear shape. does that help at all?

They make great picnic blankets.
