Do you like this swimming cossie?

We're going on holiday in November, and I'm already getting edgy about what to wear. It'll be the first holiday where I will no longer be able to wear a bikini. I need something that will cover up my tummy (esp the lower tum).

The rest of my bod is in reasonable shape. I thought I might be able to get away with this Am I dreaming?

Need to think about how you will look when sitting down. I know I would have 'love handles' poking out of those holes! If you do have any 'rolls' then probably best not...

Not mad about the cutaway bit TBH and it may not be flattering if you need to covertummy.

How about a tankini? Marks have some nice ones.

Yes, I did think about tankinis, but surely they expose the very area that's the problem?

I don't think I have any rolls, but I might have to go and take a cold hard look at myself in daylight.

this for example tho make sure top comes low enough for you

also like this not for me but if yr boobs are not too big the cleavage will distract from any tummy!

oh go for it. in fact get yourself a bikini.

we all think everyone is looking at us but in fact everyone is too busy thinking about how they look!

and if they do look-they are strangers who you will never see again so who gives a shit?

yes looking at those on M&S site they may leave an awkaward gap.

Thought Boden did one but can't find it (obv not catering to out of season poshies y'see! )

The tankini would give everyone a ghastly peekaboo show of the dodgy area

Not keen on the zebra look.

wow, if you don't have rolls then DEFINITELY go for a bikini and just go carbohydrate free for a week before!

FMMJ - nonononono I am generally quite confident about this sort of thing, but I honestly and truly have the lower tummy of an 80-year old. It must never see daylight again.

well, sort of true 'janitor'. i have been known to have give some long, hard judgmental looks to middle-aged fat people in thongs.

Tummy is fairly slim, just wrinkly. I am shuddering at admitting this to anyone.

maybe y're right tho as MMJ says, nobody is looking anyway (at least I hope not, at me at least!)

M&S site interesting as it's the same model so you can see which swimmie actually makes her look nice.

we need Mrs B really she is the queen of this sort of thing (found me the perfect ballgown)

Hmmm...maybe it would look less hideous with a tan No really please don't tempt me to expose it to poor innocent bystanders. Tis the stuff of nightmares.

Don't worry about your wrinkly tum. Half of the time you'll be in the water and therefore it will be covered, half of the time you'll be (hopefully) lounging around with your family (in which case, not really attracting other people's attention) and the only time you might have to worry about it would be getting up to go to the bar/loo I would just wrap a sarong around you or bung a kaftan over the top.. And voila! All covered!

'spawn' i know exactly what you mean re. wrinkly tum! that's what's putting me off losing weight there - at least the fat is keeping skin a bit more taut! prob with buying swimsuits online is that will look so different on you. last year i tried on about 6 in m&s (most unilkely one which i tried on for a laugh was nice) and about 15 in debenhams (all looked awful)...definitely try on or order several.

like i said if people stare-they are strangers so who cares?

I am very envious that you can look at a cossie like this and imagine your self in it...
With all my stretch marks and csect overhang, even though my weight is not bad I prefer a victorian bathing suit these days - one of those that comes with a bathing hut that gets wheeled down into the water so NO ONE needs to see you untill there's just a head above the waves .

Oooooh! I rather like the big pants! Well done FMMJ.

Flibberty - you know that body dysmorphic disorder thing (when people have a grotesquely distorted body image)...well I think I might have it the other way round lol
