WEEK FOUR WWW's 10yy bootcamp, all welcome

WideWebWitch · 04/06/2007 07:33

This is week 4 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

batters, I always think your walking very impressive and quite frankly the point is finding what works for you. I too am in awe of the runners and swimmers but I have to be realistic and that is working

I feel very focused at the moment. Keep catching glimpses of myself in windows (try to avoid mirrors lol) and am quite shocked as I don't really recognise myself

It is along way to go. However, I am nearly half way to my goal

I am about to go to Burger King and am polishing off the last of my massive batch of chocolate peanut butter caramel shortbread what I made for the family but no one likes, want to go out on a bang - bad food wise that is - so will be joining in religiously in the morning

Today I started with grilled mushrooms on rye bread and orange juice. AM going to try hard to drink more water today as it is hot and sunny and feeling a little more thirsty than usual.

I did dry skin brushing last night which always makes me feel better and painted my toe nails bright pink!

Cappuccino · 04/06/2007 09:41

ooh glitter that sounds like a nice night

< plans evening >

I still have some Sanctuary exfoliation stuff that someone bought me might break it out

I am drawing not only a veil but a ful blackout lined curtain over last week. It was hell. So I ate, drank and smoked far too much (I did do aquagym twice though. And I did actually manage to apply sunscreen as well, so have the 10yy thread to blame for coming back from Tunisia still pasty white.)
But this week is going to be so good. I have 7 weeks to go until my proper holiday and am determined to be good until then so I can wear bikinis with pride.

So far today I have:

Done 30 minutes cardio and 50 sit ups
Dry body brushed
Applied sunscreen

Drunk 1 cup coffee.

Off now to drink large glass of water and putout my second load of washing

Not a bad week for me last week inspite of half-term. However was rubbish on the excercise front, any walking done was at curious toddler/whingy 4 yr old pace! But I think I ate quite sensibly, inspite of going out for dinner (with children) on Saturday evening and just DH and I last night to celebrate 2 years of marriage and 10 years of being together! Yummy puddings were eaten on both occasions
Did walk (well saunter!) over 10,000 steps on Saturday around Strawberry Fair in Cambridge and managed to buy a dress - I'm NOT good at shopping for me at the best of times but to do it in a field is definitely unheard of!

No pre-school today so not much walking till tomorrow. Back on track with water/lotions/etc as of today though.

I do love Mondays, all that sparkly resolution and Iron Will.

Can't swim tonight as DP (he announced last night) is on a train till gawd knows when, but have done a fair bit of Brisk Sauntering and water drinking and suchlike.

Good day so far. Had an early night last night which was hardly surprising after the gin and wine til the early hours on Sat. Today have been to the gym and walked lots. Have also got back to the lotions so will be glowing by the w/e (hmm...).

Body brushing is fantastic. My legs have never been so smooth. It is worth persevering with it.

Have done swimming and cycling today and eaten well lots of fish. Having salmon tonightwiht new potatoes and mange touts and some more fruit salad.

Tried pool running for my tired legs and it was hard work and a little surreal but good fun. Have drunk loads of water but have to confess to sitting in the sun with no cream cant resist I am afraid but know it is bad.

Sobernow, well done on wine free early night and Flexitol etc.

MrBatters, a mile and a half more than I've done, well done!

Winnie, that's lovely to hear that you don't recognise yourself (well, ykwim!), well done and you're absolutely right, it's about what works for you, this thread.

Capp, well, I was copying and pasting v v quickly as I posted four minutes after I should have left the house this morning, oh the things I do for you lot but you're right, it's not still winter, I must get around to doing a spring clean no the 10YY Creed. Welcome back. What's the main reason for your detox? Is it to get rid of thrush? Are you trying to do an anti candida thing? A friend of mine does that and is v hard core about it, she swears by it but it's no yeast AT ALL so no soy, mushrooms, all sorts of things you wouldn't think of.

SuzyWong, come back when you've polished that lot off young laydee. Burger King indeed!

GLitterfairy, we're so impressed with your weight loss, please could you post the odd tip? "Things that worked for Glitterfairy" kind of thing? TIA! Well done on the fish and exercise.

Prufrock, black out curtains all round for last week I tihnk, how was the 'holiday'? Pale is interesting dontcha know. Well done on a good start to the week.

Feeheart, ah at 10years, quite right too re puddings, deserved I think. And 10,000 steps is great, I really am impressed now I know how much effort that is.

MI, ha ha, well yes, we're all so good on Mondays aren't we?

Yoyo, well done. I agree, I've been using a scrub (Sanctuary one too Capp) and E45 lotion every day all over and my skin is a lot smoother.

Middling day for me:

no wine last night and asleep by 11pm, good
but up at 6.15am, vile
granola x 100g (400 cal, no idea why this brand is lower cal by weight, I can't get the good card co one atm for some reason), good
an apple, good
100g smoked salmon with lemon juice, good
some pine nuts, goji berries, brazils and walnuts, good
lots of water, good
and then felt faint with hunger and so went to M&S and bought 100cal of prawns on a skewer with lime and coriander, good
brought back a seafood platter so had more prawns, some lobster, some crab all dipped into lemon mayo (but not that much of it)ok
and also bought White Burgundy but it wasn't cold so I haven't opened it and won't now, despite being tempted earlier. v v v good and a gold star for me

Will have early night, make up off already and am in dressing gown.

I MUST get walkign again tomorrow. Moron is in my bag, where it's buggerall use.

Sorry www I feel you must be mistaken, I'm sure it's only week 3 and I still have 3 weeks to catch up.

Not bad day today (early breakfast, moisturiser, mascara (!) walk, healthy lunch, only two cups of coffee)

...until about 3pm when revelations of disasters at work meant I had to stay horribly late and so still haven't started cooking healthy meal - but have had two glasses of wine.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

www ok here goes. First I stopped doing a diet and cut out wheat, alcohol, dairy, salt and most red meat although did eat lamb sometimes. Apart from this I tried to eat a reasonable diet to re educate myself. I enjoyed being hungry and got to know my stomach like a friend.

Every now and then I have boosted myself with a proper diet and am now doing the low GI summer boost one for 14 days. Have lost 6 pounds in the first five days.

I started doing three hours exercise a week and keep a log. I now do four to five hours and get fitness tested every twelve weeks by my trainer! The first test he did I took 17 minutes to go round a flat track and couldnt walk the next day my pulse was 110 I did it last weekend again and got round in 8 minutes running and my pulse was 140. I then did hill training with him and was fine the next day! This has taken 6 months and I have got there very gradually.

I have battled weight all my life and this is the first time it has come off like this with loads of hard work but actually enjoying myself and whenever I have a blip I have got straight back on with it. Beety can testify that I am a changed person. After my violent X left I got free counselling from Womens Aid for the last year (which is just finishing) and this has also really helped.

I have read some briliiant books one is called "do one thing differently" by Bill O hanlan and I guess that is what I have done.

Not a bad day for me - dh went for a run at lunchtime so I galvanised myself into action and cycled alongside him - very Rocky, but I have fewer wrinkles than Burgess Meredith.

Slept really badly last night and so had a lie down after lunch, sadly missing the school run, which was kindly taken care of by dh - how spoilt am I?

WideWebWitch · 04/06/2007 20:57

Iota, I envy your after lunch lie down!

GF, thank you, that's really interesting. What do you think clicked in your mind to allow you to do it? (tell me to bog off if tmi!) Well done for leaving your ex, good for you.

Eemie, well, yes, 'fraid it is week four but they'll be another 6wk 10yy along after this one if you want to pretend it's week 1!

well I will join you for real from tomorrow

have made a HUGE pavlova (with raspberries) and then felt I didn't want to waste the 4 left over yolks so have made a v rich chocolate mousse with whipped cream, egg yolks, dark choc and sugar .

I thought I'd get it all out the way in one go - especially after I tried on a sleeveless shirt (that fit me perfectly last year) and found it made me look like sausagemeat being squeezed into a sausage skin - seriously unattractive!

Have done thousands of steps today at the Lookout Discovery centre in Bracknell (inset day today) but will endeavour to do Proper Exercise and eat healthy food (i.e. no whipped cream!) from tomorrow.
