i would prefer wider straps but it is a nice shape, if a bit dull. it might be best to have one made then you can go for what flatters rather than what fits and it could be a fairly cheap option. but i am unmarried so you can ignore me if you like

hiya, am new too - think detailing, skirt and train of dress are beautiful but top needs a bit more shape - maybe something corsety or some definition around the waist to make the most of your curves?

Pretty, but I agree, I think it needs more shape on the top/ waist - I don't think it is very flattering on the model.

whatsize are you, I am a size 16/18 and for me the dress would offer the following problems

straps to thin and would look awful on me.
Needs much more shape, I look quite divine when I am in well cut tailored clothing, that dress would not work on me.

A friend of mine who's quite big wore a sort of Edwardian (think that's the right period) style dress at her wedding and looked amazing.

It had quite a straight skirt, corset and a bit of a bustle at the back. Gave her an amazing looking figure.

Having said that, I don't know where you'd find it though. Was a few years ago so the styles have all changed.

Not so keen on all the lace on the dress in your pic but most of it's maybe from the veil?

God, it's hideous Gemma - totally unflattering. What size are you? If you are over a size 12 then showing arms is a big no-no - don't you know that?

How tall are you? I think you have to be fairly tall (5 ft 7" + ) to pull this look off.

second two from twinset are tonnes better. that slightly diagonal wrap effect round your tum thing (which almost certainly has a name...) is the most flattering thing ever invented

Have to agree. Are you looking for something that's not too over the top though? Some of those are "proper" weddding dresses (with trains) whereas your first choice was more like an ordinary summer dress but in white. It's not flattering though.
A similarly sized friend of mine got married in a dress like that, and I have to say it did her no favours.

Spaghetti straps and sheath shape (straight up and down) big no-nos for anyone over a 12 IMO. My wedding dress was princess-line which is very flattering - kind of skims the lumps and bumps.

Like twinset's third the best out of her links.

Agree getting a dressmaker is the answer. Sod stupid wedding dress companies who won't do size 18s! Don't give them your money. Esp. not for a dress that doesn't even flatter you. Don't know where you live but wedding dress shops up North have much better range of sizes than down South.

I agree about getting a dressmake to make it. I had someone do mine - she worked from some pictures of ones I liked. It was empire line/princess line (sort of mix) but had long sleeves in chiffon. I have large norks so she made the bit at the top as narrow as she good to minimise them - it was low cut with sweetheart neckline. The skirt sort of skimmed my bumps and was flattering.

def go to dressmaker and take the pic along and say what you like about it

i had mine made for £600 with silk and hand beading all over the top

get the body fitted and get a little bolero jacket or wrap to wear on the arms too. 3/4 sleeves look very flattering - show slim wrists

My neice had a boned corset and skirt from a company called itfits - theres also at least 4 suppliers on planningmybigday dot com who do sises up to 28 and 32.
