Haha Grin Well it's definitely the same for me, cheaper than a cheap thing Grin

And the wildly different sizing upset me.

I've never tried Zara, being honest, i don't think anything in there would fit me nicely at my current size. Not that i'm trying to be mean about myself, more just being honest about my current size and shape. No sense deluding myself into thinking somethings going to look great when it really isn't!

Still finding my feet here really, can't believe it's been a week already, feels like i've always been here Smile

Whoop whoop, new thread!

I still haven't forgiven Zara that my favourite black top shrank in the wash. And a blouse from mango. I don't bother with them anymore.
Went shopping with dd today. Nearly bought a top from cos but decided if I really want it in 10 days I'll buy it then. Couldn't work out whether it sat funny on my boobs but I think it was the vest I had on underneath. Too lazy to take it off though. Tried on a different top in the same size and it was bloody huge!!

Dd has such different colouring to me (probably an autumn) and held up a tobacco colour jumper next to her that would make most people look ill. Made her look utterly amazing. She also tried a yellow coat in HOF which looked amazing especially with her teal hat but sadly it was too big and they don't have the smaller size online.

littledred keep forgetting to say that it's the false lash epic that I'm using at the moment.

Thanks for the new thread shop FlowersWine Your poor DA and DH - though your DH is doing amazing to be up and about and back st work after the pre Christmas hospital visit.

lib hope your studying has gone ok today. I think that was a great idea re a little treat to reward yourself rather than a massive blow out. Good luck with the shopping ban too.

marsha that was a speedy turnaround! I frequently take things back to the post office within hours of receiving them if they're no good.

I've never had much luck with Zara either. Whenever I go in it always looks so unappealing and I can't always be bothered to trawl through piles of stuff.

I'm feeling pretty bleurgh and look pretty crap too. I've just been eating really badly so far this year. I was waiting for the treat cupboard to empty before starting any healthy eating but my skin has gone terrible with too many biscuits. I'm also on the verge of getting a full blown cold, so think I'm going to have to start eating better.

We're off to the seaside tomorrow for a nice walk and lunch out. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Oh how I looooooove a new thread, thanks shop

Zara used to be really good about 8 years ago, when you wanted to try on a new trend and not sure if spending loads is wise, like coloured jeans, thank god I bough a pair from zara instead of one from j brand,
I really hate mixing high end clothes with high street in one outfit, either go full high street or full high end, mixing just kills it,

lib good luck, I did a mini ban last year, and didnt buy anything for 3 months, it made me really think about the clothes I had in my wardrobe, and the ones on my wish list, do I need it? Will it work?
Love all your pins about NZ by the way ! Looks gorgeous,

Yay lovely new thread. Thanks shop!

Lara the NZ board is to keep me focused! Nice pictures to flick through on the cold days and when the Brexit/Trump circus all gets too much.

I've given up on Zara too, rubbish quality and horrible fabrics. Cos and Uniqlo are my high Street heroes.

And Lara I am hoping a few months of no shopping will force me to edit my wardrobe and be clearer about what I want / need. Today I wore a monsoon cord skirt and black opaques and hated both. The skirt is just worn out looking and black opaques feel too heavy. I recently discovered some 60 dernier brown Calvin Klein tights in TKMaxx and they look so much better on me. Actually shopping ban aside, I reserve the right to stock up on them if I see them Smile

shop I don't wear any accessories Blush, my everyday jewerly is my watch and bracelet plus my onyx pendent, that's all! I tried and failed the stacked bracelet look and layered necklaces, its just not me,but looks great on others,

Maybe I didnt word my thoughts properly .a high street piece will wear out quickly, lose shape, fade in colours, while a better made piece from mid range brands like marant,VB,APC or higher end like Stella McCartney last longer, mixing these two is just wrong in my books,

I did try mixing high and low, bought topshop jeans when everyone were raving about them and I was so disappointed, they were nothing compared to a rag&bone pair I bought at about the exact time, and is still going strong to this day, I highly doubt a topshop jeans would last this long, without looking worn out,

I have to say the IM jacket you recommended for me still looks immaculate and move worn it every other day.
Denim is the one thing now I don't think I can buy High Street anymore. I'm saving up for another pair of Goldsign Lures after I wore mine to death. GAP jeans just don't cut it. I had mixed success with R&B after your recommendation. Not a lot of stretch in the ones I chose.......

Well done queenc! A Triple Threat! Grin

Just checking into to the new thread. I feel like I haven't got much to contribute as I am still sticking to my 'buy quality not quantity' mantra so I haven't bought anything since my brogues.

I am now saving up for a naice coat (preferably Loro Piana), a naice wallet to go with my new bag and the elusive perfect sandals (which I didn't find last summer so I didn't buy any)

Oh and another Saint Laurent belt which is sold out in my size everywhere and nothing else will do. Hmm

I think I am also going to 'invest' in some minor personal restauration work.

I.e. Maybe a bit of botox for my 11's (if I can find a dr that I trust to do it as I am a botox virgin), maybe some teeth whitening and definitely some more laser hair removal on my legs (I only had 5 sessions which got rid of most of the hair but not all)

Ugh, the good thing about not drinking is no hangover. My head hurts this morning. The chocolate, I didn't actually enjoy-it tasted too sweet so it's put me off eating anymore which is good. The gap order wasn't exciting. Was ordering trousers for ds and saw some trousers for me that wil hopefully be good for holiday/plane journey.

I don't agree about not mixing high end/high st. I think if you have inate style then you can make anything work (not saying I have inate style btw!). Some high st stuff is of excellent quality for the price and how it wears/fades is often down to taking care of it when washing ime. I don't do designer mainly because I can't afford it but also because I'm not convinced that you are always getting a better product.

I do however love drooling over high end clothes online but it's often the styling I like and get inspiration from. So, I'm that note, I'm giving in for my weekly check of new in....

Right, lost most of the last thread so determined to keep up with this one!
Have bought a few nice bits in the sales but looked for things I either needed or wanted full price.
Have been doing dry January too, although it finishes on 28th as out with DH. Have also been exercising every day, mostly running so feeling healthier and fitter but still have a few more December lbs around my middle to shift!
The aim now the sales are done was to not buy anything until April but not sure if that's realistic, might just set a one item and small budget limit per month instead.

I got this in the Next online sales for £50 Whistles giraffe dress.
Lovely navy merino sweater.
Lovely warm boots
And some fab boots to wear out although not warn them yet, hoping to wear them next weekend with all black animal print boots

On high street and designer. I think there is something creative/stylish about being able to easily mix the two. They're just clothes at the end of the day. I don't have a mantra that I must not mix my Mango with my MaxMara. And I take the same attitude to jewellery. I am very comfortable mixing swarovski with diamonds as I look it all as just bling and consider what looks good together rather than be reverential about any one item. In fact I was less reverential I would probably misplace less of it!

Longislandicetee · 22/01/2017 09:47

more reverential not less more!!! And therein lies my problem.Blush
