Beauty problems we didn't have in the 80's

*Pores- no one fussed about open pores,in fact the only place you read about them was in a science paper at school.

*Cellulite- it was just 'dimply legs' if you were a bit fat, then suddenly magazines made it a 'thing!'

  • The right colour foundation- there were only about 3 shades back then and no one made a fuss if you had the wrong one as everyone didGrin

  • No one cared about the damage Sun In and lemon juice did to your hairShock

  • No one waxed their eye brows,we all went at them like crazy with a pair of tweezers!

  • 99% of people had pubes!

I was contemplating this around Tesco earlierGrin

We didn't want to be 'radiant' because we associated that word with central heating.

I'm still unsure what radiance is. I think I can live without it.

  • under eye shadows- no one gave a fuck as we were all distracted by the 3 shades of foundation!

Eyebrow 'maintenance', pube fashion/ topiary, and hair products. We all ignored our eyebrows, ignored our pubes and revelled in our frizzy or permed hair. Although, Elnett or Bristows hairspray to enhance these lovely hairdos was in plentiful supplyGrin

I don't think pedicures were a thing, or if they were they weren't on my radar.

I preferred the 80s eyebrows to today's scouse brows! Blue and pink eyeshadow in blocks, pearl lipsticks, perms.

You could go out looking like a normal human (i.e. Without make up) without people asking if you were ill.

No one bleached their arsehole. In fact arseholes weren't a thing. Unless you were Spanish and under the misfortunate thought you couldn't get pregnant if he fucked you in it.

Arseholes still shouldn't be a thing.

Contouring, eyelash extensions, acrylic nails...not that I do any of those now either.

Contouring, HD brows, thigh gap (wtf), endless selfies when getting ready/going out. I miss my electric blue mascara and pink shimmer Lippy (Boots 17). No straighteners - I have curly hair so loved when perms were in !

Nobody wanted poker straight hair. If your hair wasn't big big big and not a reason for a hole in the ozone layer. ..then you were nobody

Getting makeup done by a professional for a night out or to go to a wedding. Expectations are soooooo much higher now. Everything is 'A Thing'. I probably blame social media and resentful middle age...

You didn't have to worry if your jeans were ill fitting, the more hideous fitting the better.
Bingo wings, I can't remember bingo wings being a problem until a few years ago.
Muffin tops didn't exist either!
To wear tights or not? Black sheer tights went with everything, and sandals!

Fake tan wasn't the look de rigueur either!

Bluntness Grin

Obvs you can't get pregnant via your actual arsehole but recommending it to teenagers to preserve their virginity for marriage (like my Spanish mates told me) resulted in pregnancies as teenagers aren't that careful and there was er... leakage Grin

Very few decisions for lipsticks - heather shimmer or twilight teaser, or lip balms - body shop kiwi or morello cherry.
Wish I could get my hands on a morello cheery lip balm now

Didn't feel the need to be identikit with your mates.
Now young girls have same hair, eyebrows, fake tan, nails.

And we had public hair

Manucures in salons. All you had to do was slap on a bit of Cutex nail varnish.
