Hair growth & Biotin

I am growing out my hair after a pixie cut that I did not like. I'm now at that terrible pre-bob stage. I keep reading things about Biotin. Has anyone tried it? Does it speed up growth really? Any problems?

I take it to increase growth/regrowth not speed. Not sure it helps with that though it may do. My nails certainly grow faster.
