Alternatives to leggings - help!

So, since having 2 kids in just over 2 years (DC2 is 3mo), I've gone from a size 8-10 to a size bugger knows what (I'd say probably 18-20). When I was skinnier I was always comfortable in leggings with dresses or long tops/jumpers.

Now my between DCs size 14 leggings don't fit properly and are rolling down, and quite frankly, its cold. However, I've never really got on with jeans, I guess they were comfortable enough when I was smaller but in my younger days when I was more this size I could never get ones that fitted properly.

I'm really getting annoyed at not having any properly fitting clothes, can anyone point me in the right direction? I can't quite bring myself to traipse round the whole high street trying stuff on that doesn't fit yet.

I'm 33, 5ft 3, and around 14stone if that helps. Not a huge budget really as will probably have to buy new tops etc too. I like quite colourful things too. Thanks

No helpful advice but watching with interest as I'm in exactly the same boat, but 5'10" and a size 20. I barely know how to dress myself these days.

I'm 5'10 and size 18 and I do wear leggings but make sure I wear good quality ones and quite thick now it's cold, I also wear with dresses and jumper dresses that have a flared fit from the waist down as they are more flattering than straight longline jumpers and tops. I also wear knee high boots as I find ankle boots and leggings make my legs look horribly chunky. Hope that helps, I'm not the most adventurous dresser so hopefully someone with more fashion sense will be along to advise x

Yes they do a pack of 2 which are thick, think it might be luxury leggings.

Have you tried Sainsburys jeans? They were recommended on another thread. They are the only jeans that fit my tree trunk legs and feel comfortable around the waist. If I wear dark blue or black with a longish jumper I feel reasonably presentable. They're cheap too!

My sister was your size and she swears by Asda jeggings with the elastic waist. They are skinny so can be worn under tops etc.

I'm a 16-18 but have been bigger, and I really like h and m leggings. They are long and high waisted so they don't fall down as much. I also have a really nice pair from new look. I also really like primark 100 or 200 denier opaques, they are almost as thick as leggings, last ages and you don't have to find any socks! Agree with pp about fit and flare dresses, although I've also been wearing a lot of jumper dresses to work as they are so easy to throw on. This one from Cos is super comfy and flattering. I'm wearing it tomorrow.

Mint velvet leggings are lovely . They have a panel that holds you in and are thick . I'm size 10 and the smallest ones are a bit big for me so worth a go.

Asda wonderfit jeans-they're honestly amazing, I'm 18-20 & have bought them in every colour. The plum ones are different fitting for some reason but the others are great, quite high waisted & stretchy & so so comfortable. And I think they're 20% off at the mo

Agreed with pp poster who said Sainsbury's, they are fantastic, I also love my peacocks ones if you have a peacocks shop near you, think you get two pairs for £10 they are lovely quality, I am loving my fleece lined leggings from new look at the moment they feel amazing on!
Can't go wrong with a pair of m and s leggings though tonne honest if you can afford to pay a bit more.
I do have primark leggings but I restrict them to lounging around the house in x

Am in a similar situation to you Op and always buy the Sainsbury's leggings.
They are the £10 a pair ones but are good quality and I always stock up when Sainsbury's have their 25% off. ( which according to a Christmas thread running here should be from Monday 28th November until 5th December. )
Worth waiting a week if you are going to be buying a few pairs.

It's worth looking at other clothes in Sainsbury, too. They have a good range of sizes, and you can often find things which are all cotton (some places with larger sized clothes have hideous fabrics that I would hate to have against my skin.)

Are you getting the right size in tights? I like H&M.
Maybe try jeggings or high waisted skinnies - New Look are good for those.

Try M&S relaxed skinny jeans. They are so comfortable for those of us with massive legs. They come in denim and also in black. Maybe other colours too.They stay up. The fabric is soft and has give in it. Holds you in but lets you move. I live in them now. Until I found them, I barely wore jeans.

I love Sainsbury's kids clothes so I don't know why I've never really looked at the adult stuff.
