What to do with bikini line?! (sigh)

Don't panic, there are no pictures! Grin

Every summer, I go through this shit. We are going on a summer hol to beach/poolside destination. I just want a low maintenance, neat bikini line!

Veet/Nair: dissolves hair at skin line. Problem: rapid regrowth, messy, irritates skin

IPL: can't afford

Shaving: ouch + regrowth

So...it's waxing, isn't it? 😣

What does everyone else do??

Waxing! I wax all through the winter and will try and wax for a holiday. But in general will shave for the the rest of the summer so that I can have my legs out when required! I wax whole leg and bikini line.

Do you do it at home or go to a salon?

Will I cry with the pain? Sad How often do you need it done??

I shave my legs as they have about 5 pale hairs on each one. Bikini line is a different story, sadly.

Laser is the absolute best but it takes time and is expensive. Waxing is good...yes painful. You can buy numbing cream: 'no scream cream' was a brand i used. Or Emla from pharmacy. This has lidocaine and really helps. You slather it on an hour before.

I had mine lasered years ago but still shave some bits when I have a certain bikini to wear. I wouldn't shave my entire nethers but it's fine just for the edges.

Oh, this No Scream Cream is news to me - thank you!

I go to the salon. My legs are much easier when shaving after a winter of waxing. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would! I have dark hair and can get quite hairy, your description sounds like waxing would be perfect! My DM has been waxing for years and now rarely has to do it. Although I don't think I will be in that position because of my summer shaving!!

I've got waxed every 4 weeks for about 8 years. I have now just invested in laser hair removal. My under arms after 2 sessions are amazing.

Only had 1 session on legs and bikini so can't really say there is a huge difference. But I still have 5 sessions to go.

Oh god. I'm going to have to go for waxing.

Will it be fast? What do I ask for?! I just want the sides - nothing that goes halfway into the fanjo. Blush

Laser might not as expensive as you think. The salons near me all do special offers. The price of laser has come way down recently. In the long run it can work out cheaper than waxing.

Just ask for your bikini line, you keep your pants on! Just move them to the side and then they do it! It takes me between 20-30 mins for my full legs and bikini line, but it sounds like I have more hair than you!! It honestly wasn't as bad as I though!!

I would suggest 'hot wax' rather that 'strip wax', it sounds horrible but is actually less painful. Doesn't take very long at all, just a few minutes.

When you all say "laser", do you mean IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)?

I have been waxing my own legs & bikini line for years. It's not hard. For the legs, I use the wax that you heat in the microwave and then take off with paper/cloth strips. For bikini line, I use the kind of wax that solidifies on its own when cooled. So you just pull it off. It's easy and much less painful when you are the one doing it.

I just started IPL, though, so I'm hoping I won't have to do it for next summer Smile

Cote and Rach I'd absolutely love IPL. But I don't fully understand it, how many sessions and how often do you have to go? Are you finding it very expensive? It's permanent, right? I was looking at home IPLs but reviews said they don't have the same strength

If you go to a salon, do they usually give you a choice between hot wax & strip wax?

I had to look it up Cote but no they're not quite the same thing.

Wear board shorts. Dry quickly, so no sitting around in soggy knickers, available in a choice of length and always cover normal adult female hair growth.

Also look far better than knickers.

I have only ever been offered hot wax!

I know that Laser & IPL are not the same thing but I was wondering if people meant IPL on this thread when they said Laser, because they were talking about having it in salons. I think Laser is done by doctors, not salons?

Hot wax for sure. Depending on where you live you may need to ask if they offer it.
