Low rise-ish jeans, cords etc - where are they?

I've been looking for ages for trousers with a low waist but everything in the shops is high waisted (or labelled mid-rise but still high). I can't wear anything high or mid waisted as I have a complicated patchwork of scars on my mid-stomach and low rise trousers are the only that don't aggravate them. Everything I see that's low rise arm is skin tight and really low, and I don't fancy my rather well padded buttocks being on show. My favourite pair of trousers have an 8 inch rise from crotch seam to waistband which is perfect for me, whereas my other trousers have a 10inch plus rise between crotch seam and waistband and feel horrible to wear.

I've had some success with Next, I have a pair of boot cut cords which fit really well and are the perfect place on my stomach. Everything else I own is painful to sit down in, as the waistband cuts into my scars. I have a pair of elasticacted waist-but-smart trousers, which are mid rise but don't hurt my scars as they're soft, but make me look very "matronly", maybe as they have pleats at the front, not sure, I may just have a matronly stomach so I think I need something more structured/fitted, like the cords.

Have you seen any 7/8 inch rise trousers (preferably ok for work) in any shops? I've tried most high street places but they're either too high waisted or low waist and skin tight which would not be ok for work

I have some low rise cords which I found in TKMax, but obviously it's a gamble what you find in there. There are some in H&M but they are quite low. I need a belt to stop them riding lower when I bend down.

At risk of making you sob, have you tried maternity trousers? You can get them in small sizes or skinny legged, but they have a stretchy piece of material at the waist band that might be more comfy for you?

I have absolutely considered maternity trousers I love low-ish rise trousers because I can tuck things in to them, which disguises my strangely shaped stomach. If I try to tuck anything into high waisted ones it just highlights all the strange lopsided stomach bumps. If I can find maternity trousers I can tuck things into (tshirts, random flaps of stomach etc) it will be like finding the holy grail!
H&M scares me - I'm a size 10 but can't get H&M sizes 10s over my flipping ankles. They are designed for giraffes, I'm sure. I'll have a look in TKMaxx next time I'm near, and will have a browse of maternity trousers now

Oh glad I didn't offend you with the maternity suggestion. I have a pair of old maternity skinny jeans from Next that I still wear because they are SO comfy! It's my secret, .

I too cant stand anything over my hip bones, havent had any luck at all this year in the shops so have just been buying on ebay! Pisssssed's suggestions a good shout, have a couple pairs that are magic! Although they do tend to be really long

They were all hiding in my pre-kids, flat-stomached wardrobe And I finally gave in and charity-shopped them just this week.

Seriously, you should try charity shops as I think the fashion has really changed away from these in last 10-15 years to more high waisted styles and you might well find some decent pairs.

Wait, am I 10-15 years out of fashion?? but I know what you mean, low rise were pretty much all that existed in my pre-child/pre wrecked stomach days, and now they've vanished. So cruel. If only I'd known of your magical wardrobe! Luckily we do have some decent charity shops here, so I'll have a look. And thank you pissed 7 for all mankind look exactly the right shape. I may have to sell a kidney to buy them but it would be worth it

I'm extra pissssed off now because I just gave a couple of pairs to charity, Sutton Coldfield if you're passing. Up to child 3 they were great, 9lb boy ruined me, never again !

I'm quite far from there or else I would have gone on a hunt for them! 9lb boy? Yikes! Mine were tiny in comparison, 7lb and 6lb, but 2 c sections + old scar + putting on a stone from medication and the weight settling in odd patches around all the scars means my stomach looks like a beaten up bag of laundry I'm just waiting for baggy dungarees to come back in style, then I'll be sorted.

Don't start me, OP, I won't be buying any trousers this year, can't stand a high waist - all that pointless extra bulk.

So will be wearing what I have already until frump waists go out again!

I had better stock up then. Being pear shaped I find low rise trousers and jeans very uncomfortable as they cut into me when I sit down. High waist ones don't.

Sorry Daphne I wasn't accusing you of being out of touch! I am the least up to date with fashion possible (still have clothes in the wardrobe from more than 15years ago!) and if kids hadn't put an end to my hipster wearing days (that is what we called them in the 90s isn't it?) I would still be rocking them.

I've embraced the high waisted trend though as it's just my muscles that have gone so sucked in waist works for me! I also realised low slung was unsuitable for crawling around on the floor with toddlers!

I did also think under bump maternity trousers in a slim fit could be a solution but I see that's already been suggested.

I can't wear high waisted jeans for the same reason - I have a large scar across my waistline on one side. The high waisted thing is everywhere and it's really annoying where I try a lovely pair of jeans on and just know they are going to be painful.

Not very trendy but I find M&S jeggins and skinny jeans sit low enough to be ok. I also got some Next boy fit ones that sit lower but I had to try loads on as most were too high.

I got work trousers in Sainsburys - kind of boot cut and low waist but no 7/8 ones that I saw.

I have the same problem as I'm very short-waisted. A low waistband and high heels correct my proportions.

Have you tried wearing men's jeans and trousers?

Another here still in maternity jeans for the cut and the blessed comfort. DD is 3!

I did it! I found trousers!!
Fat Face jeggings, mid rise but low-ish mid rise if that makes sense. Fit beautifully, don't annoy my scars, good length, soft, lovely colour. Not too tight and finally a waistband that wasn't doing up over my nipples

I thought I'd spread the joy as they are so lovely!
