looking for a decent black pencil skirt

Just that really. Preferably something non-trashy that could be worn to conservative funerals etc. Went shopping yesterday and all I could find were arse-hugging polyester disasters with zips at odd angles.

I'm a size 12 or thereabouts with a small waist. Also 5"9 so would prefer a bit of length as nothing hits the knee on me. Prepared to invest maybe £60 in a quality skirt. Suggestions?

Hobbs are good but a bit more than your budget. They do last though. I recently bought one from next which was nice until I washed it in the washing machine - it was dry clean only Sad

This is the one you want. Try code THANKME for 20% off, and the black will be under £60. Size down at least 1 size - hope it's long enough for you!

I was going to suggest the J Crew skirt too, but Blair got there first.

There's one in the latest Boden catalogue. It's long too, the text says it comes to below the knee. On the model in the picture it's just above the knee, but she's probably 5'11" or so.

I tried the Boden one on today, on me 5ft5, it came just below the knee. They have 25% off this week too.

summer I feel your pain!
Thanks everybody. I like the j. crew one, I might actually go for it. Does anybody know what their returns policy is like, if it doesn't fit?

Gosh, I love Mumsnet for stuff like this.
