What to wear to a christening?

It's years since we've been to a christening - everyone in our "group" seemed to stop breeding sometime ago, but it appears we have to attend one in a fortnight... what the hell do you wear to these things - it's at church then a back to the house affair.

Genuinely I'm stumped, I can't think how formal etc I need to be - pretty sure that last one I went to I wore a flouncy dress that wouldn't show up the sticky finger prints and baby dribble of dcs x3!
