Colour me beautiful v house of colour

Hello,

I've got some money put aside for a colour analysis which I've been wanting to do for a while.

House of colour gets a really good write up here, but despite living in a major city the one lady running this here has no upcoming classes on here website and the next nearest would be significant travel and I'm quite time poor.

Colour me beautiful have several stylists close by, with slick organised websites, and I think I'd prefer the short 1.5 hour private session they offer compared to the much longer house of colour group session.

Any experiences of colour me beautiful and would you recommend them?

I had a HOC analysis and it was great. I would contact the consultant directly. Mine looked like there were no upcoming classes but when I emailed her she was able to fit me in at a time convenient to me.

I want to get mine done with HoC, friends who've been seen by the others weren't impressed and were given the wrong season.

Email the consultant - lots of them (including me, I'm a consultant) will try to fit you in if they can.

Obviously I'm always going to recommend HoC, so no point asking my opinion, but if you want any factual answers about the process I can help!

I went to CMB and as very happy. It was a long time ago though.

Hopefully, thanks for the offer of advice about the process. What I'm not getting is the small group thing with hoc, and what the real benefit of this is? Assuming the consultant does each of us individually, it just sounds like I'll spend a lot of time watching others? But a private session seems to be much more expensive?

Hey KatyS36, Firstly colour analysis is amazing! Go for it! I would go for House of Colour all the way but I would because I have just started working for them! Where are you based - maybe we can help put you in touch with your local stylist? BTW I am an autumn and have just started wearing colours I never have touched previously. Love it!

I thought the same thing about the group, felt like I was paying for just watching but actually it was really good . I was last so I got to see the transformation of the other women and could so much see how their colours suited them that I was totally excited when it came to my turn and it didn't disappoint

I think a group is helpful as you can see why the colours suit other pp easier than you can see yourself sometimes. I did CMB years ago and didn't regret it. I don't really think it matters that much personally.

I did mine in a group of four. I agree it was helpful to see how the other ladies were matched in their seasons (including one other the same as me) and it made for a social day with time to chat and swap ideas rather than being one to one with the stylist.

Thanks for your recommendations. I'm in Edinburgh and looking for someone not too far away. There do seem to be a lot of HoC recommendations on here and not much from colour me beautiful.

I work close to full time, and I've got a daughter, and whilst I think I'm a nice chatty person, sometimes its nice not to have to be sociable!

I didn't fancy a group so paid more for a hoc individual appointment, I loved it and it was worth every penny. I'd contact the consultant direct too.

I did CMB about 10 years ago and really loved it. Very much enjoyed it all being about me!!

I've had both done. HoC was more accurate for me. I spent years not getting along with the colours the CMB consultant said I should be wearing which is why I did HoC.

I imagine it does depend on your colouring. The two systems are slightly different. With CMB I'm apparently cool and clear, but a HoC summer (supposedly a season often misdiagnosed by HoC consultants as well). So there is overlap in the palettes but the brighter jewel cool colours in CMB cool and clear tend to be a bit much for me. CMB would probably work just as well for some people.

I did HoC. When I rang to book she fitted me in within a fortnight but in a group with two others I'd never met. I'm really a shy, reserved sort of person so I was quite nervous, made worse when it turned out the other two were sisters.
But afterwards I was really glad there had been others there. I was done last too & seeing the others matched was really eye opening. Although sisters they were different seasons, summer & autumn & I was different again, spring. You really could see how the colours made a real difference, far easier than seeing your own.
I later had the style day but I did book that as an individual & I think in that instance it was helpful to be alone as the consultant went into real depth & spent the whole day helping me,

Katy as everyone has said, the main benefit of the group is that you see other people being analysed, which makes your own analysis make more sense. Particularly if (as with lots of people) you struggle to 'see' it on yourself - seeing other analyses will give you the confidence that it's actually a real thing!

I did HoC, and just booked my mum and I in on the day that suited us, it was easy & an enjoyable and worthwhile day out.

Never done CMB so I can't compare but I suspect they're pretty similar so I'd go for whatever is most convenient.
