I am baffled by the popularity of Cos

Who wants to look like this?!

The model looks like her head has shrunk or that she is wearing clothes about 10 sizes too big for her.

Everything is so shapeless and blah and yet it's lauded as a style haven.

I don't get it.

I am baffled by the popularity of Cos

Me too.

Can't see the appeal. Overpriced for what it is, too.

Bloody hell.

Is it marketed as a contraceptive?!

So blahhhhhh. Id look like a blob with that on. Looks very comfy though. Plenty of room to grow

Yeah I don't like that dress at all - but I'm a huge fan of Cos generally. For me shapeless really works. I guess it depends on whether it suits you or not. Added benefit that I've been able to continue wearing most of my Cos stuff when pregnant!

Looks like my mum in 1972 when she was a size 20 in old sizes.

What the heck?

Is the new fashion style 'child in parents clothes'?

I have had some lovely things from cos, leather trimmed textured knit tunic ,mohair jumper and LBD. What you can't see in a picture is the feel and detail in a fabric.

I'm short with large norks and always swore that there was nothing in Cos I would ever consider wearing. Then last year they did a drapey long sleeved jersey top with a dipped hem in a gorgeous rusty red and I loved it so much I bought 2 of them Grin

They do have some nice things if you look but their signature look as in the photo your posted is not my bag at all. I'd look like a bowling ball in a tent.

most of their stuff would look very good on the young/tall/whippet thin

but if I was young/tall/thin I would be wandering around in denim cutoffs and a tight tshirt, not swathing myself in grey flannel.

The model's face is clearly thinking 'why am I dressed as the before picture in the Slimming World newsletter'?

I'm a fan, but this dress is horrendous. You need to see and try on the clothes in RL to appreciate them.

I used to laugh at Cos too but my favourite jumper is from there (2nd hand). It totally nails 'slouchy'. That changed my opinion and I've since seen quite few things I like.

The trouble is, I still don't buy because there's no branch near me and even fans admit that the website can be grim and that you need to try on first. I don't think it's very clever of them to have so few branches outside London.

But nanny I do wonder who they actually suit. If you're a 12-14 like me or bigger then you will look like a fat person wearing a sack. And if you're skinny then you risk the shrunken head look

Also agree with tinsel. If I was young and skinny I would be wearing giant oversized too long clothes with big cullottes underneath Confused

Genuine lol at squooshGrin

So there is nice stuff to be had for a size 12? I've been looking for back to work stuff following mat leave and was cos was great. Er no thanks.

I have a Cos in local shopping centre.
I've been in 3x in 5 years. It's very cool and minimalist and a bit off putting. I walk past and have never seen anything I would ever wear in the window either.

It's horrific isn't it? I idly wandered over to their website after seeing them raved about on here, and ran away laughing. It has to be some sort of joke. And MNers dare to diss PerUna! PerUna might be a bit stretchy and shiny, but you don't look like Del Boy's curtains or an assymetric oompa loompah in their stuff! (I noticed over the summer it outdid Per Una for the beige thing as well)

You don't have to get it, its one of the things I like about COS you love it or hate it. Personally I love it and it's not over priced the quality is fab. Personally I don't get the appeal of shopping in Next or River Island but lots of people do, would be boring if we were all the same.

Being 5ft2 and a busty size 12 it really shouldn't work for me but actually some of my favourite clothes are from Cos. The material is such lovely quality although you basically have to take a bunch of stuff into the fitting room and try it all on. 50% looks horrific; 30% meh and 20% AMAZING.

allegretto · 23/09/2016 15:40

I agree with Freebutton. I've got quite a lot of things from Cos but for every successful purchase I've tried on about ten items that looked absolutely ridiculous.

Why don't you just go for somewhere that sells mainly good stuff as opposed to mainly shit stuff? Confused Grin

It is truly awful - on par with Speziale, that other well known brand of sartorial awfulness.

crystalgall · 23/09/2016 16:00

It sounds like a lot of hard work to find something nice.

Of course we don't all have to like the same stuff. I get that. It just seems like so much if it is baggy, saggy, seemingly unflattering, cut oddly etc compared to other shops

But I may give it another whirl just to see if the statistics hold up Grin
