Excuse me, I haven't read the early threads, I read the beginning of the last one a bit but that's it... What's the crepe thing about??

Can I join in this thread from the begining please?

I really don't want to be naked ....... :)
Feeling very ropy and waiting for ds to return from sailing which will involve mega moaning....

Report
herbaceous · 20/09/2016 19:23

Older than you think - we're a bunch of ladies of a certain age (about 50) who got together on a thread back in the neolithic era, to moan about the 'joys' of menopause, thickening waists, bristling chins, flapping jowls and indeed crepey necks. We do still occasionally talk S&B, but it's more often aged parents, crappy work, troublesome teens, holiday plans, recipes, wine...

Thanks Mrs SFlowers
Herbs, I reckon a blog just about your life with different subjects as they arrive. A kind of Crepey blog. Some of us could do guest posts. ( looking at you writers) Starit would be ace. There is a t-shirt website apaz , where you upload your design ( it can just be words) and you get a % every time it sells. Let me think where I saw itHmm!!

I will indeed be in the buff, scrubbing self down for a bit of wild swimming. Dsis has a map off of the internet of secret swimming ponds all over the island. I will be completely powered geo-thermally for several daysGrinand hopefully trying unusual foodstuffs like Reindeer and lichens . Hmmmaybe.
We depart at dawn.

I think the Naked Crepe is conjuring up all sorts of unsavoury images..... Of a MU at a nudist camp a la 1972 Smile

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/09/2016 19:33

I was not averse to a little light nakedness in my yoof. Met a delightful young French man on a nudist beach on the west coast of France when I was 18. He looked even better with his clothes on. But now...no. Too fat, too many scars. Only at night, without light and without moon.

Thanks Mrs S! The prospect of me as a naked crepe is a very worrying one.

It's all kicking off here with Dd, childminder, work etc etc. Will try to get everyone to bed and then pop back.

There you are!! Gosh we're moving at the speed of light. Hello again DQ. Welcome Older

Have a good trip Cremo and I hope you're feeling better for the journey.

Herbs I dunno what you do about the work gig....I just know that the one volunteers too much time, people only expect more...yet if you are getting something out of it, it would seem a good thing to do it for a bit...n'est ce pas? Shame the place is a bit of a Mickey Mouse operation as regards computer programmes etc.

CV I had glandular fever in the lower sixth. I though I was dying and the blood test didn't show up positive until I was feeling better...Hmm Caught it from kissing a boyfriend Grin Hope DS feels better soon and it is just a nasty bout of tonsillitis.

NU so glad the trip continues to delight. Smile

Beachy Flowers but your comment about the dog in a support group made me laugh out loud Grin. I have suffered with food hates and preferences in the family for years. This precipitated a reaction at times akin to flouncing out and hollering "OK go ahead and STARVE"

Any news of DD Stropps would there be any mileage in doing the MTFUP thing but then telling the Uni welfare office what you've said. I'm sure they can try to support DD into getting out of the inertia and doing the admin etc Flowers

Mixed day, mostly good. Finished teaching a lovely day time course today and got good feedback, altho the feckers that upset me so much with their toxic email haven't got back to me about the other issue. Hmm Then, lovely lunch with special friend. Wonderful news from Sexy Young Director...WE ARE FULLY CAST...and some of them are HOT, and I mean hot flush city. Grin Then dealt with all the admin for the theatre including a hefty (but worth it) electronic transfer form my meagre savings, which are now even more meagre.

However the storm clouds are never far from the horizon...ConS has upset me big time. Again. Angry Angry Angry

Never the less I am comforting myself with a browse though some nice gear which I may order so I don't look like the menopausal old hag that I really am, with these hot young things, next week... Here's your starter for 10...

clearly made for me, but worried that the ruched but will make me look like Ive got a front wedgie

in the black to wear with cigarettes jeans or black slim legs]]

needs a vest but love this

I also have fond memories of nude swimming in Greece off a fantastic beach with massive crashing waves and a steep slope , so you could practically dive off the beach into the sea. It was so hot, being in the buff was completely natural. Loved it. Nothing beats skinny dipping.
Now, am a bit circumspect about my own flesh.Blush

Cremo, I too did quite a bit of Greek nudey beaching when I was young and slim. And skinny dipping as a teen en France Smile

Checking in - Rose can't open second two links. Like skirt but not sure about runching. Model looks like she got it stuck in her tights.

Herbs - "Starting again at 50" is a great idea - extending the crepy theme and adding humour to the darker moments.

JustMe - I have lots of brain fog and can be totally scatty. I was really well organised before. I'm hoping it's the menopause and nothing more sinister.

All the family together this evening. I'm happy.Smile

Have a fab holiday Crem. I'll get in touch afterwards for recommendations.

Girls with brain fog - do get your ferratin levels checked when you next can. It's your stored iron. Mine was 17 but optimum is in the hundreds according to sources wot I read. My surgery only pick up at 15, so mine had been low for years. I took 400mg ferrous fumerate (most stomach friendly) plus some other stuff to stop getting constipado (not a good dog name)

Just saying. I done my bit of the swimmy nudification. Also topless table tennis one memorable afternoon. I won against odd male friend of my then boyf but it was Pyrrhic (sp? victory)

Just been learning names/authors of poems for English GCSE with dd1 and having a jam. Her on guitar, me on drums. Was super mega fun but can I go to bed now please? I started work at 6.30 today.

I made DP go nudey swimming when I was six months preggo Grin

Herbs, purely from a professional point of view I wouldn't invest effort in a blog. I rather think blogs have had their day as A Thing - there was a very small flurry of people getting book contracts on the back of them back in the noughties but a lot more people trying to do the same and failing. If you want to do it for you, that's a different thing - but I honestly don't think it would work as a money-spinner. I think you'd be better to pitch a few feature pieces on things like 'my train-obsessed son' (the AP angle is also pretty well-explored ATM). Sorry, don't mean to be a cold-waterer...

WAF, appaz your DD2 is 'adorable'.Grin

WAF, that's me too with the stored iron deficiency. I am taking ferrous fumera te and getting a monthly shot too. Apparently liver depleted completely.

Herbs, I agree with MI on blogging and money. If you want to blog and get something out of it, one option might be to do it on something where you get nice freebies or press tckts (I know people who blog on museums/theatres/exhibitions, get previews, and on hobby kit and get freebies to borrow or keep etc, much easier than hard cash but provides some fun), and you develop skills and contacts in areas you are interested in? I wish I had done that.

I am stumped on work too - things have dried up and I don't know what to do next as have a very odd rag bag of skills (and my most recent solid one only a handful of orgs in the UK use). And I have no proper internet atm......And dh working very long hours and I feel lacking in oomph.

Crem, you have a marvellous time, naked and clothed! Oooh I am getting excited thinking about Iceland and swimming. We swam in a REALLY hot river in the pouring rain, it was amazing.

I love the print of that skirt but agree with hatty about the ruching...

I haven't caught up properly....

Ferritin levels eh? Could. Just take iron anyway? CBA to wait the three weeks for a GP appointment, and the queue for the three hours necessary at the blood test place.

MI - I too had a feeling blogs have had their day. There are so many, there are no niches left.

Oh dear. Just started watching National Treasure, when I really should be doing some work for tomorrow. Bugger it.

Report
bigTillyMint · 20/09/2016 21:35

WAF, Cremo and Herbs, my ferritin level was 9 last time my bloods were taken. This is not a new thing - I am borderline anaemic so I am on iron tablets which are HORRIBLE!

MI, would not go nudey even when he was young and vital (bearing in mind that he is 4 1/2 years younger than me) - Greece was with my ex who had no such problems!

One of my enduring special memories is skinny dipping in the dark in an idyllic bay in Turkey, off the side of a yacht, with a very unwise holiday dalliance, and the phosphorescence all around us.

Hello new thread!

Bon voyage, Crem. Hope you have a fabulous time.

Rose - I knew exactly which skirt the "wedgy" one would be before I even clicked on the link. I bought that very one in the sale last year (different print), but the lining was so tight I could barely get into it, and I certainly didn't dare sit down. It was also far too short. But the ruched bit looked OK, actually.

Herbs - I agree about blogs - all the talk is that they are ovah. Not sure what else to suggest, but I agree you do have a wonderful turn of phrase and it would be great if you could find a way to share it with more people and make pots of money too

DH was reading this over my shoulder and I got the Spanish Inquisition about who I was playing strip poker with in my youth. I don't think his was as exciting as mine. Grin

Oh yes and nude swimming in Greece with an inappropriate holiday romance when I was 16. Happy days. I would do it now, if the water was deep, and it was dark. And with the right man.
