Chanel Coromandel

Thanks to the thread started by Crayfish, I ordered a sample of Chanel Coromandel from an eBay seller. Fatal mistake - I'm in love!!!

I know its horrifically expensive, but does anyone know what sizes are available, how much they are and where they are actually for sale please? It appears you can't buy on line, but will stores post out? Flowers

And why can't I love anything cheap and cheerful quite this much???

It's part of the Les Exclusifs range

They're only availabe from Chanel boutiques, the Chanel boutique concessions in Selfridges and Harrods, and also in the Chanel boutiques at Heathrow airport (once you're in Duty Free).

I don't know what sizes the pure perfume comes in, but I have the Eau de toilette (not this scent but another of the Les Exclusifs range) and I have both sizes 75ml and 200ml. I think the smaller is approx. £120 and the large size approx. £200. The 200ml is definitely better value but the smaller size is good for handbags/taking on holiday. I usually buy a new bottle whenever I'm passing through Heathrow. The 200ml bottle lasts me about a year, and that's a generous spraying twice a day.

As a rule I don't think Chanel does mail order but why don't you give them a call as you never know!

Thanks sansucre, that is the sort of price range I was expecting. I'm torn between calling them to see if they will do mail order, or waiting until I'm in London in a couple of weeks and popping into a Chanel boutique.

Obviously the latter option carries greater risk... Grin

MoominMamma Crystal Flacon (a site where perfumistas sell decants from their full bottles) is worth a look. Also look for decants on eBay. 5-10 ml goes a long way with this perfume, and I say this as a full bottle owner... Wink

Ooooh, thanks for that FrustratedenablerGrin, will have a look there this evening!

I bought a 5ml decant on eBay, and was just considering whether it might be an (ahem) interesting idea to try a few small decants of the other Les Exclusifs seeing as I love this one so much... I'd love to hear if anyone has any recommendations please Thanks

Another great source is this amazing perfume shop in Belgium (they do Chanel exclusives via mail order; order here, payment via bank transfer, you will have to pay for shipping but it will be worth it).

The perfumer behind Coromandel is Chris Sheldrake. He has done so many other great perfumes, a few Exclusifs and a lot for Serge Lutens, see some of them here.

Thanks for that Frugal, sounds like another good option.

This is fascinating - I'm stunned by the Chris Sheldrake / Serge Lutens connection, I've worn Un Bois Vanille in the summer for years! It must be fate Grin

Another Coromandel lover here, I also buy small phials from ebay. Of the other exclusifs, offhand, I adore Sycomore and 31 Rue de Cambon. Passing through Stansted last week, I tried (I think) Misia, which I thought was a bit meh.

Thanks for the recs ThenLater!

I like the sound of 1932 and Beige, but I'm trying to force myself to wait until I can go into a boutique to try more rather than just buying decants of all of them....

Is Boy one of the exclusifs range? I know I was told it was only available in boutiques and Selfridges when I purchased it. I love love love the fragrance but I find it doesn't have any staying power on my skin in the way that other Chanel scents do.

Yes, I believe it is Tatlerer.

Coromandel has great longevity on me, a little seems to go a long way.

so few on display in the average dept store here. I love cristalle and no 19
I'm intrigued by all of these scents I didn't know existed.

Love coco the original but I wouldn't wear it myself, It's lovely though.

I find the chance ones a bit ordinary.

I bought a 2ml sample of 31 Rue de Cambon yesterday for an eyewatering £££ from ebay, but it is a thing of beauty!
Money- Coromandel smacks you in the chops and makes you go 'euuuuuwaaaasssrgoooooooiiaaaa' for about 10 minutes and then settles and develops into warm, spicy, wonder. It's definitely a winter perfume I think.
I love Chance Eau Fraiche- I don't know Coco M. Bel Respiro from the Exclusifs is quite fresh.

ThenLater, I love your description of Coromandel! I bought a small decant because I thought I liked the sound of it (never done that with a perfume before) - when I tried it I thought it was bloody awful, such a strange smell, then 10 minutes later I was in love Grin

Sooo tempted to buy just a couple more tiny little exclusifs samples...

There are lots available on ebay! (I am such an enabler!) I also first went to sniff Coromandel because I liked the name. There was a children's book at my primary school called Coromandel, the name fascinated me then too. I do that with a lot of perfumes, try them because of the name. L'Heure Bleue, Apres L'Ondee, Bal a' Versailles, Portrait of a Lady, Seville a' l'aube...all tried, with varying success, because of the name!

Are you on the perfumistas thread? You might like it! Bring your credit card!

I love Coromandel and I'm a Chanel girl at heart. I haven't got a full bottle (yet!) but I have bought decants off eBay now theperfumedcourt and surrendertochance have stopped doing Chanel. I have FBs of 28 La Pausa and 31 Rue de Cambon. I also love Bois des Iles, which is a lovely woody, spicy scent and Cuir de Russie.

Oh lordy, have just spotted squillions of decants on Etsy, all of the Exclusifs seem to be there. I must forget I ever saw them. I must! Grin A lot are in the US so shipping might be prohibitive, but some are UK based.

I like Allure best. Will I like coromandel?

LittleMysMoominMamma · 23/09/2016 18:51

ThenLater, you ARE an enabler but, to be fair, I am very easily led Grin

And yep, the name also hooked me, but for the connection to Tamil Nadu in India (Coromandel Coast) where I've had two of my best ever holidays, its a wonderful, fascinating place.

I have to be extremely cautious with perfumes as I suffer from chronic migraines and I'm hypersensitive to smell. I think have to be able to identify specific notes within a perfume, and a lot of them just smell like a mixture of chemicals to me. When I get it right though its amazing, I actually find it a real comfort to wear when I have a migraine.

So, I will head over to the perfumistas thread, but if I love Coromandel, what else will I love? Thanks

Shmoo, I bought a small sample first from 'fragrancesamplesuk', then I bought a larger size decant from 'tom-ford-uk', I'm delighted with both.

Happy shopping Grin
