Moncler puffer coat - too warm for UK winter?

I am coveting a Moncler puffer coat. I have heard that other luxury winter coats such as Canada Goose are really for extremely cold alpine and Canadian and North American winters. Does anyone know if Moncler is the same or if Moncler is a bit lighter and more suitable for the 4-8 degree weather we experience here?

Also does anyone know how true their sizing is? I'm a UK 8-10

Don't know the answer to this but I'm interested. Which one are you thinking of getting?

I have a Schneider down puffa, made for Austrian winters, and it's fine in cold English weather but you won't need (much of) a sweater. However, the relative warmth of it v a Moncler I couldn't tell you.

Depends where you are in UK and how much you are out and about.

I am in rural northern Scotland. My friend has a moncler puffa and lives in it in winter. On very cold mornings she'll even wear thin layers under it as well and sheds the layers as the days progresses.

If you are in a southern city it might be overkill, but I tend to run a bit cold so I'd say get one anyway.

I have one and Woolrich Parkas and wear a lot but I do feel the cold badly. Never too hot in mine.

If you want a warm Moncler coat go for a Moncler Grenoble.

In answer to your question Moncler coats are not the same as Canada Goose coats, Canada Goose coats are very warm, I only wear a t-shirt or a light jumper underneath mine.

ds1 (19) has a moncler puffa/down jacket and he rarely wore it. Maybe because it was so mild last year, we are in the south east. I think he's hoping to get a lot more wear out of it his winter as it was expensive and he brought it himself when he started work.

He is going to NewYork in January with his girlfriend so maybe it will be cold enough then for it.

I'm sure Moncler do other styles that aren't as warm?

Thanks all - I was looking st the Suyen but the weather does not tend to get too cold where I am, so maybe I'll go back to the drawing board as I'm not a cold creature and I walk everywhere so I think that I would overheat. Some of the sportmax/max maras seem worth checking out...
