Avon. Is it just me

That thinks it's crap?!

A colleague started doing it a few months ago so I've ordered a few times and everything has been completely rubbish. Yet alot of people seem to like it?! Worst culprits of my orders so far:

Bb cream which looked the right shade when I applied it but then turned me shiny and orange an hour later

The promised "matter than mac" lipstick which I had to apply 20 times, complete false economy might as well pay extra for Mac and only apply once all night

Mineral foundation in their lightest shade ivory which looks like a bronzer on me

Nope it's rubbish! Everything just melts off me, I have quite dry skin too. Don't get me started on the perfumes lol

A couple of Avon things I have are good - the glimmerstick eyeliners and eyebrow pencil. They do a sensitive bath foam that's nice. I tended only to buy stuff when it was on offer though.

I like their mascaras, brow definer and BB cream which I wear as my everyday Base, it looks natural on me so maybe you had the wrong shade. Not keen on their shower gel, shampoo etc

I agree - bought a kabuki brush which is so rough it's like rubbing a wire brush on your cheeks. Also bought some bronzing pearls which are crap.

I got a 'free' lip gloss with that order, which looks and feels really cheap and has no staying power.

Won't be trying anything else.

I like the Glimmerstick eyeliners and some of the body sprays are lovely (they do a nice violet one) for the gym but I wouldn't buy any other make up as I like to see the color in real life and not on the printed page of a magazine.

Agree, never liked Avon but understand that they own Liz Earle which I love!

What is this Violet body spray you speak of?

What is bb cream ? Surely it can't stand for ball bearing?

Agree, i bought the avon copy cat of the guerlain colour correcting balls and they were rubbish couldnt get any pigmentation from them and a sphere brush for curling hair which feels like it should be in the poundshop

I love Liz Earle and was really disappointed when the make up range was cut right back. The eye shadow was amazing. Felt like silk going on and had wonderful staying power - lasted from morning till night with no problem. Then, all of a sudden, discontinued. Lip gloss also great but now only available in a couple of shades. I assume because both products were far superior to anything Avon produces. I have now found another eyeshadow brand and am going back to the lip gloss brand I used before Liz Earle. Neither is Avon.

Years ago, I got the most amazing face powder foundation combo from Avon. They stopped doing it and I'm eternally sad

Some of their lipsticks are really nice.

Their nail varnish drying spray is brilliant :)

goddess- I used to use that compact too and really missed it. But, generally, avoid buying "coloured" stuff out of a catalogue - foundations or lipstick.

The glimmersticks eyeliners are amazing, and many of the mascaras are better than more expensive brands.

Of course Skin So Soft is a regular purchase for dh (outdoor hobby)
Mascaras and nail polish are ok, but the perfumes! They all smell the same (apart from the soft musk, which dsis wears, overwhelmingly sweet)
I didn't like the violet spray, didn't smell of violets (and I thought it was the room spray?) DD loves the bubble baths.

I find it all a bit tacky.

I used to do Avon, had loads of regulars, but for anyone that has bought stuff and they hate, you can return it for a full refund even if your used it. I had people do that when they had the wrong colours it weren't happy with a product.
I love their illuminating pearls but don't like the lipsticks.

Argh. I promise I'm more articulate in real life than my last post alluded too!!

slinky, I find the sprays confusing, they look like room sprays in the catalogue but then the back of the bottle implies they're body spray?!

I like the glimmerstick eye liners and gel nail varnish, not wild about the lipsticks as they're rarely the colour they look in the catalogue Confused

I find avon makeup highly allergenic. If I wear the mascara I'm ripping my eyeballs out an hour later. Same for collection 2000.

Something's I like the 3 in 1 foundation is good, but I get through 1 a month. The Gel nail varnish and the basic body cream. I am also using the moisturiser. My friend has started doing it so I have bought a few items.
Other stuff just doesn't work for me. Lip pencils, eye pencils e.g.
So some items great but others it so

No totally agree, way overpriced and the colours / shades are always totally different to the book when they come.

My closest friend has started doing it and I feel bad as I've never ordered a thing but just can't find a single item I want to buy. My mum loves it though!

I've never seen the point when you can just go to a shop and look and buy on the spot.

I work in a town centre, everyone here can walk and gets a paid lunch break etc but there is still office excitement over Avon. When the orders are due. When the payment is due. Ooh will my lipstick be here in time for my night out. Etc etc. FFS super drug is round the corner you know.
