Usually wear skechers

Nike or New Balance around these parts but leaning more heavily on the Nike, I'd say.

I'm rocking a pair of Adidas and I love them.

We went in Skechers today, I told dd if I ever get to a point where I am wearing them she is to push me under a bus immediately! Sorry Giles but there are much much nicer trainers out there ( and Skechers are so very bright) get a nice pair of white Stan smiths

Adidas - Stan Smiths or Superstars

Nike - Huaraches or Air Max

Converse in any colour, white have been really popular this summer, also pastels

I haven't seen many Skechers around. Maybe try on some other brands in the shop and see if you like how they fit.

OP - I have black Sketchers too, with white soles and laces, and they're not too heinous - maybe not the most fashionable choice, though.

Adidas Gazelles is what I'd pick.

What do you want them for? Is it everyday wear or actually doing exercise?
For everyday wear they shouldn't look like exercise trainers

I wear New Balance. I'd like to think of myself as fairly fashionable and I'm 26.

Do you have to buy black? I think most black trainers look awful for casual wear.

I just want them for daily wear although I will be attempting to resume some very amature running/ hideously unattractive puffing sweating whale when kids go back

I got these recently. They are lovely in real life but a bit brighter than I'd usually go for. Need to size up in this style though m.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/5,22/2427280680

I also have a pair in a light grey/mint green which are my favourite.

Hahaha come on... Did you seriously just suggest for a sketcher wearer to buy a pair of Huaraches?! Personally I find them a bit much even on teenagers and students.

Stan Smiths are the mainstream fashion trainer of 2016 and I have to say I don't find mine THAT comfortable. You mentioned a little running so I would probably say that New Balance is the best suggestion so far, they'd be classed as 'in' and won't be difficult to style... I think you can get some black ones with some subtle rose gold details which are nice.

If you really want black I would get a pair of black converse for everyday and then something cheap from sports direct for running in. Most proper running trainers don't go well with jeans and most fashion trainers are not great for running.

OP, for running get some Asics; they will make you love running. Or at least not loathe it quite so much.

I have black and leopard print Nike Roshe, black glittery Adidas Gazelles and black Stan Smiths, and gold Nike Thea. I do not run. I've worn all of these with dresses/bare legs over summer, as well as jeans, and plan to wear the Gazelles and Stan Smiths with opaques and dresses/skirts when it gets cooler.

Why is there such a hatred for Sketchers?

On holiday this year in Orlando and when I have been traipsing round London and Bath this summer I have seen a great many people in them (young and old).

IMO Converse don't count as trainers as they offer no support at all. They are just fancy plimsolls.

I have tried a lot of the more trendy brands, but they simply aren't as comfortable as Sketchers. Clearly I don't buy footwear to be fashionable, but to save my feet when doing a lot of walking Smile

I agree with Nick . I love my canvas Converse but no way would I do any sort of excercise (except walking) in them.
They offer minimal shock absorbtion and b* all support. They'd kill you after a mile.

I bought some shoes for my uber trendy DD (I think Nike) I know she has the Roshe but no idea what these new ones are (she points them out and if I agree, I buy them --£65 I think they were )
