In search of an understated leather jacket...

I have an old black one from Gap that I used to love but now looks somehow a bit dated. I've tried on loads in All Saints but they're sooo expensive that I want to get it right. They had a lovely dark grey-black one that looked like washed leather, which I think was the nicest on me but has anyone seen any elsewhere else that would suit a 5ft7 size 12-14 34-yr old who usually wears Gap, Zara, H&M/Bretons, skinnies and a shitload of grey marl?? I don't want cropped or collarless, and I don't want it too, um, motorbikey. But general biker style is OK! Just not full-on Hell's Angel. Any help much appreciated.

I think this is the one I liked - I liked the fact that it's not too shiny:

That's stunning. I want one!

It's lovely, isn't it??...but I've just read someone else's thread asking whether leather jackets are on the way out...I think they're pretty classic, as long as they're not too cropped/fluoro/fake furry/studded or similar. Just a question of finding one that suits me, for a reasonable price. I think dark grey is the way forward.

The Oakwood grey one is lovely. Prefer that to the All Saints one.

I have 3 (yes 3! in different colours) leather/suede jackets from Muubaa, they are all lovely quality, buttery soft and go with everything, I linked to their web sale above but you can frequently find their stuff reduced at Brand Alley, Ebay, Amazon, etc

Ooooh SoyYo I love their Monteria style, in charcoal! Can't see it cheaper anywhere else but will have a proper look tonight. How is the sizing?

I've got that all saints one OP linked too. It's beautifully soft and makes every outfit look cool. Dh bought it for me for my 40th last year and I don't think it will ever look dated. It's got a lovely work vintage feel to it.

I second Muubaa got a lovely distressed style and not too 'biker' from Bradalley for just over £100

MancMum that is GORGEOUS in the navy!! Too pricey for me though, and I think I've decided on dark grey now.

Kenworthington how do you find the sizing? I am 12-14 with E/F boobs, 5ft7 and a bit.

MancMum that blue one is beautiful! Lucky you!

I did not pay full price for it - sign up to the site and they often send out discounts - I got 33% of it last year.. still the most expensive thing I ever bought - I only paid 80 quid for my wedding dress - but the quality is amazing and I think the style means I will wear it for years..

I have the Bales from All Saints which doesn't have too much detail or hardware on it.

www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-bales-biker/

It fits over my E cup boobs in a large - I'm a 12 to 14 too.

I do like that one too, PNGirl - do you have it in a 14? (It says they're in dress sizes)

If that one was in grey I think it'd be perfect! Do All Saints ever have discount codes? The only time I've ever bought anything from there was when I first moved to London and was drunk on independence and East Lonson cool!! (This was before East London cool just meant being a knobhead...)

Thanks for the heads up MancMum, I'll sign up now! Can I ask if it fits true to size as I've never bought anything from there before? Also is the navy darker than than the photo or much the same?

Laquila I think house of Fraser sell all saints and they often have site wide discounts on! Might be worth keeping an eye on them.

Next has added new lines to their branded labels, including Ted Baker which I really love buying esp for my LO outfits. French connection also has some nice styled jackets.

For money saving, here are codes for £20 off £50 @ next online although it is for new accounts only.

Ah, yes sorry, it's a 14 (when you filter on certain pages e.g.sale leather jackets they give you S M L as options).

I have generally only seen an extra 20% off sale. I'm a retail buyer/merchandiser and it's unlikely they will do any offers now.as it's prime leather jacket season.

Tkmaxx can be great for leather jackets. DD1&2 both got all saints jackets there a couple of years ago. Same jackets, bought on the same day about 250 miles apart.
I quite like this one

Boredom- I would say it is spot on size wise - I have 12 and fits perfectly with a thin jumper under it. It is more of a darker navy less shiny blue than the picture which I think makes it more versatile as goes with so many outfits

TK Maxx always have lovely ones. I bought a grey one there recently. Soft leather almost identical to the all saints one and only £59. Get complimented on it all the time. I had an idea of what I wanted and I visited a few times before the right one came along. Mind you the day I bought it I could have bought about three.

Well today on advice from here I ventured to TK Maxx and I found the perfect leather jacket that fits like it was made for me for only £50! I had the choice of 3 but this one was exactly what I was after! Almost black but not quite with just the right amount of distressing and lovely slim fitting arms! Honestly I couldn't have had one tailored to fit better so thanks for that! Flowers

I've had my eye on an All Saints jacket too, though all the ones I reeeeally like are their most expensive!

I'm also tempted to send for this to see what it's like www.next.co.uk/g5498s6#936784
